Sort of...They have some hockey obligations but they are going to preempt the hockey when Dice-K is pitching. Then, after the hockey, I think they're going to show the whole game.
But, if you live in Japan you can catch the game live! ;)

What the hell kind of crap is that? They're bumping Daisuke's debut for hockey? No offense puck fans but that is lame. I was having someone tape it for me in the Boston area starting at 6:05......WTF!?!?

Will it be on MLB tv online? It's about time for me to bump up that subscription anyway....

Yeah, and get this...it's not Bruins or NHL hockey. It's college hockey. :icon_hang

Yeah and Dice-K's start is in spring training against a college team. I will be more excited when the game means something and they are playing major league talent.

I'm tired of the "Matsuzaka tied his shoes today" stories and want to see him perform. Just because he's facing below MLB-level talent doesn't mean we can't evaluate his own mechanics, velocity and/or control.

I read on another Message Board that it would air for free on MLB.TV tonight but I haven't found anything confirming that BUT...
Good News.....NESN will be airing it according to this link.
The wait can subside when Matsuzaka gives a two-inning sneak preview of his arsenal. It is such a big event that NESN, which wasn't scheduled to broadcast the game, will provide one-hour bonus coverage so that viewers all across the New England area can watch Matsuzaka's debut. The game will also be televised in Japan on NHK.

WHAT!?! He tied his shoes? Can't we hire someone to do that for him? This is a back injury just waiting to happen. Those buffoons in the FO - man, now the rest of my day is ruined.

No he's got those glove-like socks that he wears to prevent back injury.
This game might not mean a lot to you and me but it truly does mean a lot to the Japanese baseball world. Let them enjoy it. We Americans have to sit back and enjoy them enjoying it.

Dude calm down. The last thing we need is Matsuka losing touch with where he came from. Tying his own shoes keeps him grounded, humble even. Besides, i have seen numerous online projections that indicate that his shoe tying mechanics are not stressful at all. In the japanese league, he was known to tie his own shoes dozens of times a day. Its just a cultural difference, and you need to get used to it, because its the way he does things. He is a warrior.

Is it just me or, when they show Daisuke in the clubhouse, he seems sort of clueless? He has a very Manny-like expression on his face.
If I see him sporting cornrows and laughing during a loss, dammit, I'll be pissed!

Yup the last thing we need is a pitching version on Manny on this team. We should trade Matsusaka while he still has some value.

What mechanics DOES he use? Does he do bunny ears, or does he do the one loops wrap? And I don't care how he used to do it, we've invested $100 million dollars in him, and I don't want to have purchased damaged goods just because they want to play fast and loose with their pitchers over there. Good forbid he ends up like poor Mickey Tettleton:
Catcher: Mickey Tettleton (Detroit Tigers) – Went on the DL with athlete’s foot…caused by tying his shoes too tight.

Leave it to a guy whos nick celebrates Dinosaur Jr Carl Everett to overreact. I would totally blow you away with my mad debating skillz, but i have to go to my Rubiks Cube team practice.

Well, drop me in the middle of Japan tomorrow and I'll wear the same expression. Although, in the words of Forrest Gump, " I am not a smart man..." :D

For real! I went to Hungary...I don't know a word of Hungarian but I was there with my buddy who does. I imagine I came off as quiet or even dumb. It's humbling when you go to foreign country and don't know the language.

It's the bottom of the first (one out)...He'll pitch the top of the second. No worries.

I don't know much about baseball, but he's got a weird-looking overhand delivery. I wonder if that will confuse batters. Like a sidearm pitcher, it looks like maybe when Daisuke pitches you can't get a really good idea of what's coming.
On the other hand, I could be blowing smoke out my ass. :D

Lots of strikes. A bit low and out of control on a couple, but in general I like how his pitches look. It seems like they pick up speed in a weird way. Sort of reminds me of someone using a jai-alai scoop.
Two innings against B.C. at the beginning of March is a bit limited and early to say whether or not he'll be any good, but it was certainly a better first outing than, say, giving up four homers in a row or something. :)

Well, the part I saw where the picture wasn't so dark that I couldn't make anything out looked fun. I wonder if the umpire was instructed to be generous with the strike zone for him. I agree about his delivery. His fastball almost looks like it has downward movement on it. Pretty interesting, when the picture on the webcast is so crappy, it almost looks like he's just throwing it down, hard. Anyhoo, fun stuff.

I read a report that basically said that his arm slot is really deceptive. Hitters have a hard time seeing the ball coming out of his hand. It's kind of like the anti-Arroyo approach (he of the multiple arm slots)
So, I guess that's the end of Dice-K's debut. Very impressive! His curve is sharp and his fastball has a little extra zip towards the end. Not too shabby for two innings.

I reminds me of Pedro. His fastballs always had a little "ummph" at the end of them.

Wow, that was quick! Now the college hockey is on.......
What a thrill for that kid who hit the lead off double off Matsuzaka - he'll be tellling that story forever!
A good first outing, yet I understand it is BC in March.......

What about that poor kid they sent out to pitch, who'd never pitched in college before? "Hey, kid, welcome to your college career... that's the Boston Red Sox out there. Now go pitch to Jason Varitek, Willie Mo Pena, and Eric Hinske." :icon_oak:

His stuff looked good. The strikezone was somewhat big and he was pitching against college kids.
Still waiting to see him during primetime, but again his stuff looks good.

I missed the first inning but watched him pitch the second. It was good to finally see him out there.
