Division rivals with 199+ combined wins, 2001-present:

1. Seattle and Oakland, AL West, 218 in 2001
2. Oakland and Anaheim, AL West, 202 in 2002
3. New York and Boston, AL East, 199 in 2004

I mention this because as of this writing the Yankees and Rays are on pace for a combined 200. Even if we weren't having a nightmarish, injury-plagued season, it would still be VERY hard to make the playoffs under these conditions.

Number of National League teams finishing with 100+ wins, 2001-present: 5.

This last weekend proved that the Red Sox are exactly what they look like ... the third or fourth best team in AL. Unfortunately for them, two of the better teams play in their division.

Speaking of the NL and being a statwhore, with his scoreless inning pitched against the Rockies tonight, Ramon Ramirez has allowed 2 ER in 17.0 IP (ERA: 1.06) since being traded to the Giants.

National League bump. The NL West is not the AL East. He would still be sucking if he was here.

That's not a bump, that's a mountain. I don't think you can attribute a difference in stats that large to just that. The new environment probably helped his psyche.

He was pitching quite well just before he left.

He has allowed 2 of his 6 inherited runners to score. 33% Add those two runs to his total and his RA is over 4.00. His WHIP for SF is 1.235 and for Boston it was a 1.299. His walks are up and his K's are down. He had only allowed 19% of IR to score with the Sox this year. He's OK, but let's not go crazy. His peripherals are not amazing.
