Ken Rosenthal tweets that the Sox signed Delgado to a minor league deal. He will need a couple of weeks to get ready. Maybe a Sept. 1 call up?

We sure do hate Mike Lowell, apparently.

Actually, no. If they bring him up Sept 1 when the rosters expand then both Lowell and Delgado could platoon at first. It basically is a low risk, potential high reward signing. IF (and that's a big if) Delgado could get hot, then it's a great signing.

Don't hold your breath on Delgado getting hot.

Carlos Delgado was 0 for 3 in his first game for Triple A Pawtucket.
He flied to left, grounded to third and struck out before he was pinch hit for.

First game in while. Hard to judge. ;)

I saw video of him taking fielding practice yesterday. He looked to be in reasonable shape and had decent mobility. Not much to go on.

If you look really closely, you can see his walker in the background.

I can remember watching Delgado play at AAA Syracuse (Bluejays) back when I was first married. I rode my dinosaur to the ballpark.

I don't know if this is a thing Delgado always does or what, but I watched him hit a homerun (as a Blue Jay) against the Rangers years back, and when his team took the field, during the "commerical break" he painstakingly spelled out "GRACIAS" in the infield dirt behind first with his foot.

It took the entire break, his penmanship (footmanship?) was very neat.
