Beltre had a chance to do some damage to Lee early, but he GIDP'd instead.
I hope he gets another chance.

This could turn out to be the fastest 9-inning game ever.

Cash nails Vlad trying to steal.
So Cash isn't absolutely useless.
Good thing, too. Hamilton's double would have easily scored the Vladiator.

And Lackey gets out of the inning unscathed. Hamilton's probably jack-slapping Guerrero in the dugout right about now.

Is this what it takes to get Lackey to pitch like a guy with a kajillion dollar contract? A marquee name taking the mound for the other team?

Don't worry. The pile of suck known as John Lackey will fold like a cheap suit very soon.

I'm here trying to bring the late innng mojo. The guy in front of me just called for a first pitch HR by Cameron. He missed it by inches. Damn!

I won't say that Lackey matched Lee, because clearly he did not.
However, I will say that Lackey's performance today was encouraging, against a worthy opponent (both pitcher and team).
And Cliff Lee going 9 throwing 105 pitches ... means he is the Anti-Dice.

This could turn out to be the fastest 9-inning game ever.... Or we could be here all night and it's still hot as hell.

Someone in this organization owes DMac a new iPad, or a dinner with his girlfriend/wife/babymomma/whatever at some fancy joint.

I guess miracles can occur. Happy for the Sox. But shocked.

Can't say you and your son did not get your money's worth tonight.

That is true even in spite of the inflated prices. Our last time at Fenway we saw the Daniel Nava game against Philadelphia, so we have seen some thrilling games this year.

;) With Lee on the mound, I truly thought this was going to be another one of my "one and done" game threads. Surprisingly and happily it wasn't!

Nah, I'm lucky to have a good relationship with my son (age 24) such that he'll spend 3 or 4 weekends with me each year to travel to Boston to see the Sox.
