Yesterday morning a former coworker gave me a call. I by the way use to work for an university locally and one of the professors there well his wife had found a baby blue jay on her morning walk. The night before we had a terrible storm and he fell out of his nest. She could not find the nest and I was told she looked and I will believe her.
Well they tried the park services( we have a few here) and local petstores and also some people they were told to contact. No one would take him in or they could not be reached. The former coworker thought of me and asked me if I would take him in. I have bred birds for many years though it had been a few years since I have done so, but the technique is the same. It seems people are starting to look to me to take care of injured birds in this area, this is the 3rd time in the last few years. Some that people I never heard of but like 6 degree of separation they find out about me. I was iffy on it but knowing no one was taking him in I decided to do so. When I got him from her he was shivering so badly and he was obviously hungry. Taking him home I got out my sick tank that I keep as a spare for all my animals and placed him in with a small heating blanket and begin to feed him. The little guy was hungry that was no lie, at his age, and I place him at about 2-4 weeks at best, he needed to be fed every 2-3 hours. He was warm, fed and his poo was the color it was suppose to be. Thumbs up on a good start. So setting my clock for every 3 hours we began our journey.
He ate like he had never eaten before and he started to open his eyes which were gorgeous. My tiels started to sing and coo to him and he started to bob in rhythm with them, so damn cute loved it. Took a video of him today and some pictures, they are blurry but he was not sitting still for long
However at midnight I noticed his poo had strains of blood in it and at 330Am I saw some by his beak

We are not sure how far he fell, but the trees in the area are at least 40 feet-60feet and we are not sure how long he was left alone Well I just lost the little man about 30 minutes ago and while I know the circle of life is complete it still saddens me
I don't feel I failed him he was just to injured. Still the circle of life sucks at times :(

Big teary eye sigh :(

I know the pictures are a bit big and I apologize for that normally I would downsize them

Life is hard. Very sweet of you to try your best with the little baby birdie. I'm sure he was grateful in his own bird way.
