Gordan Edes Reporting in his blog..

Outfielder Manny Ramirez showed up at Red Sox spring training camp in Fort Myers this morning, three days earlier than he said he would.

He arrived with agents Greg Genske and Gene Matosis, and is on his way to take his physical.

A Sox official said Ramirez is not going to speak with the media. No word on whether Manny will work out today.

OMG

What's this?!?

Manny being a grown-up?!? Reporting EARLY? Making amends?

I'd like to think that we can now move on from the "Manny" saga now that he's arrived but I'm not foolish. Good to see he's here (or there) earlier than expected and on the verge of another monster season as always.

Just wait until he doesn't run out a ground ball in April.. :icon_axe:

No, no, it's when he gives up on the basepath after going about 10 feet towards first, and the guy in the field bobbles it so that Manny would've been safe if he'd actually given half a shit and ran hard, LOL... oh, wait, that's not really funny, is it...

Wait til he comes out and tell everyone he reported early because it isn't March 1st yet

Isnt he a few days early - the players union contract states he's not REQUIRED to attend until March 1?!

Actually, it's February 27th but technically speaking, if he arrives before the mandatory reporting date he is early. Of course, most of his teammates are extra early. Personally, I don't care. If his teammates accept him and he puts up his usual stats, he can show up to ST later than most people choose to.

Lets see....how can i spin this negatively.....

1) Manny is so stupid, he thinks it is already march 1st.
2) What a prima donna, Manny just wanted the spotlight on him, not Dice K.
3) Yeah thats it , Manny is jealous that him being late to ST isnt the main attraction this year.
4) Sure he showed up before the mandatory deadline, but he didnt hustle into the clubhouse.
5) Omg...that hair.
6) Trot would have been there in January.
7) I wonder why the FO puts up with his antics. They should trade him for a bucket of balls.
8) One time, my cousin was at a Sox game and the Sox were losing and my cousin saw Manny in the dugout laughing about something. Laughing! And they were losing! That guy just doesnt care! I dont care how good a hitter he is, i'd rather have Reggie Sanders or hell anyone.

OK ....and the winner is......for the way the Press is Most Likely To Spin This Latest Episode Of Manny being Manny Negatively is......

NUMBER 4!!!!!!!!!!

"Manny Ramirez showed up (finally) at Spring Training complex in Fort Meyers Florida yesterday to (finally) begin preparing for the 2007 season. Spectators were shocked when Ramirez, who appeared to be healthy and fit, meadered slowly into the Red Sox training facility. Said one disgruntled RedSox fan who was on hand for the spectacle," He gets out of his car, and just walks into the building. Hell it wasnt even walking, it was more of a mosey. The prima dona even stopped to have his picture taken with some kids. Anything to get his face on the news. Afterwards, he just saunters away, with a smile on his face. A SMILE!!! Doesnt he know that baseball isnt a game, it is serious business? Its a slap in the face of everyone who came before him for him to act that way."

By all accounts it took Ramirez a full 14 minutes to make the stroll from the parking lot to the front door, a trip that most players make in less than eight. Onlookers gaped as Ramirez lazily, almost aimlessly, drifted through the crowd into the facility. He seemed childishly unaware of the open derision on the faces of most if not all of the onlookers. One even shouted "Youre no Dice K!!" , a reference to the newly aquired Japanese pitcher/savior who is yet to actually throw a pitch for the RedSox.

We have it on good authority that Trot Nixon, had he been on the RedSox roster this spring, was planning on making the trip from the parking lot in a dead sprint.

Once inside the building, and in the clubhouse with his teammates, one can only assume that Ramirez sat alone at his locker, openly ostracized by his teammates for the lackadasical display that had just unfolded. One player, who wished to remain anonymous, struggled to even pronounce Ramirez's name correctly, and said through his interpreter that he "repsected Manny as a player, but that he hadnt had a chance to get to know him as a person yet." This type of divide between players and teammates is exactly what a player like Ramirez causes in the clubhouse. Teammates that dont know each other. Chemistry is dead.

It is February, Spring training has barely begun, and the RedSox season is already over, thanks to one Manny Ramirez.
