Red Sox second baseman injured on diving play in first

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia was removed from Tuesday night's exhibition game against the Twins because of a mild left wrist sprain.
Pedroia is day-to-day. The injury was sustained when Pedroia dove awkwardly for a ground ball by Twins leadoff man Denard Span in the bottom of the first inning. Pedroia made a throwing error on the play. One of the best all-around second basemen in the game, Pedroia was the American League's Most Valuable Player Award winner in 2008. I hope it is nothing. But the Sox have been less than inspiring lately in ST. 10 games 9 losses and Buchholz got rocked yesterday. Ortiz still isn't hitting, Beltre isn't hitting. Their best ST player will be going back to the minors soon. Dice has missed almost all of ST after reportedly coming into camp in the "best shape" of his life.

Yes I am a glass is half empty kind of guy. :(

When did the Sox last have the best ST record? Did they in 04 or 07? If the answer is NO to both, then be cool, my babies. :)

X-rays were negative. A little rest for his wrist and he'll be fine.

Pedey says he is playing today. Now if Ortiz could start hitting, Buchholz could start pitching, Dice could get healthy and paps doesn't blow up again I will be fine. :)

mikie is that opinion or fact? I can't find that any where?opinion, I thought an extra infielder who can play short was needed but I now expect Lowell to stay in Florida and with Lowrie recovering from Mono I expect either of Hulett/Frandsen to make the roster

I think they will DL Lowell, stash him for a while and then trade him. Although I still feel he would be a better DH than Papi at this point. If the Sox are going to trade the WS MVP you might as well trade Ortiz...what's the diff?
