Me too. I would settle for the occasional Red Sox Classic on NESN, but they don't seem to do that. Shame. In the meantime, a little Jerry/Don levity. :)

I watched "Faith Rewarded" the other night. I watch it every now and then when nothing big is going on. This week before the Superbowl just sucks.

Anybody heard anything about Beckett yet?

This post belongs in the thread about how rarely there is live action in football... the fact that Remy and Orsillo can do "investigative reporting" of that magnitude on the pizza throwing incident does not speak kindly on how often there's action in baseball.

Look at the scoreboard. Remy and Orsillo definitely get silly when the game is a blowout. And they did their "investigation" between innings. Baseball has built-in commercial breaks.

This.

The goofing around and inane banter between Don and Jerry during the game can be entertaining. I missed the RemDawg when he was sick last year. Some of the folks filling in did a decent job, but it just wasn't the same.

NG, thank you for informing me that baseball has built-in commercial breaks. I always wondered how Wakefield appears on the mound playing a baseball game, and then a second later he's in a showroom selling me Jordan's furniture. Until now I had always chalked that up to black magic.

But the fact that they did that "investigation" during a commercial break only emphasizes my point. Baseball has way way way more downtime than football, a sport where a study just revealed the ball is in play 18.3% of the time. I count commercial breaks as downtime.

I wasn't complaining about downtime in baseball, the game is after all my favorite sport, I just think it's funny that they did the study with football and not baseball. The results would have been way more pronounced in baseball.

I love the pizza throwing commentary and wasn't bashing it. And I don't think the scoreboard matters at all, Remy and Orsillo are silly all the time, not just in blowouts.

BONUS: We were up 10-1 to Baltimore last year and lost, there's no clock so it ain't over till the fat lady sings. During blowouts they better keep at least a small amount of attention to the game!

Here are some pics of new Greenville Drive manager Billy McMillon in uniform. Now i also have an ulterior motive for posting these. Billy McMillon is part owner of a baseball training facility here in Columbia, and the other day our ten yr old had his very first paid professional hitting lesson from him.
