$9MM in 10 and a $5MM option for 11...not sold on the idea, but I guess we just got better defensively...maybe...

Youkilis vs. Teixiera for the AL golden glove at first, now?

To be honest, I don't have much of an opinion on this at the moment.... I'm just checking to see if my old avatar is still here so I can bring it back to Patriots Planet!;)
Anyway... Yankees Suck!

Nice! A lot of incredible bare-handed plays.

About three minutes into that video, Beltre makes a play again (Dustin?) Brown of the A's. What's really funny about it is how his shortstop doesn't even pretend to be going for the same ball, even though it is hit between them.
I'm not sure if the shortstop doesn't move because he trusts that Beltre will just "handle" it, or if the shortstop doesn't move because he just doesn't have the reaction time. It actually looks like the former.
Anyway, the shortstop looks like he's about to eat some popcorn while he's watching Beltre make the play. Hilarious.

It also seemed in alot of those clips that the SS was set up way close to the 2nd base bag, and Beltre was way off the line. Of course the circumstances of a game will dictate some of that, but if Beltre allows Scutaro to play a couple of steps up the middle, it reduces ground balls that sneak thru, and makes everyone look better.
What i found very interesting also was the almost underhanded throws he made on alot of those barehanded plays., and how much he got on those throws. I think people who think that the upgrade over Lowell defensively isnt going to be that noticable are in for a shock.

That guy Bertle looks way better than Beltre, he should start, Beltre can ride the bench, and we can trade Lowell for a bowl of meatballs and a shark with laser beams on his head :DITH:

yeah that release and what he got on it is amazing....but I have to ask, was it his throwing shoulder he hurt?

No, the bone spurs and subsequent surgery were on his left shoulder.
From a June 2009 blog:
The Seattle press corps snuck in some questions, too, about his ailing left shoulder. To be frank, it doesn't sound promising. Beltre is clearly gutting it out here, but he's having significant pain from bone spurs.

and on that video i posted there is one clip where the announcer makes reference to this being Beltre's last game before he goes in for surgery. So, while the bone spurs im sure were painful, they obviously werent dibilitating.
EDIT: The clip im talking about starts at 7:58
