Terry Francona made 4.5 mil last season so im guessing that Brad Mills did not make 3 mil.

I think he's referring to the player option Varitek holds. I think if the Sox exercise theres, he gets $5 mil. If they decline and he exercises his, he gets $3 mil.

I suppose everything is negotiable, though.

Tek: "Hmmm, it's spread out over four years, but that's twice as much money."
