New York Yankees 95 56 .629
Boston Red Sox 89 60 .597 5.0
last night could made it 4 games with the Yankmees in LAA for 2 more before travelling home, Yanks split those two and the sox take 2 of 3 and it would be a whole new meaning on Friday night just 3.5 out
oh well my question I am trying to get to is
do you play for the Division and Detroit?
or to set up the staff for a trip west as wild card Angel foes?
you make the call

I set up the staff. It's been proven quite definitively that Wild Card teams are as legitimate World Series contenders as any of the division champs. I set up my rotation.

I don't give up on the division unless we are mathmatically eliminated. I think Francona will set up the rotation though.

It's getting interesting. Imagine battling with the Yankees this weekend, sweeping them, and then facing them yet again in the ALCS? With a game 7 at Fenway Park? I can dream.....and I will NOT be careful what I dream for!

How about doing both. Even if the skipper's messing with the rotation to get it aligned for the playoffs, go out there and win some ball games no matter who's pitching when.

I am a firm believer of a good staff set up correctly for a playoff push makes the most sense but it was a nice dream to dream about over taking the MFYankees for a bit

Losing these 2 to the Royals was a blessing in disguise. Now the Red Sox can put it in shutdown for the final 2 weeks of the season, rest players, and set up their rotation.
