Every spring I find it interesting to see who is in shape and who is out of shape in the world of Baseball and more specifically the Red Sox. It is also great to look back at this and see what exactly this means come the end of the season. Usually, It tells us very little but it is still fun. So here is a list of people I have heard or read about.
Johnny Damon- Nearly weighing in at 220 which is about 15 lbs over his “listed” playing weight of 205
Schilling- His Dome Belly looks slightly bigger then it did last year..
Dustin Pedroia- down 20 lbs from the 195 he came into spring training weighing last year .
David Ortiz- Apparently looks a little leaner this year. Which might not be a good thing.
Varitek- Reports are that he is in great shape…
Anyways.. That is all I got right now… Feel free to add to the list. I will enjoy reading it.

Ortiz being lighter will help his knees
Pedroia was told to "lighten up" a bit and I am not worried for I like Cora
sad to say but I am out of shape right now

Don't see Schilling's girth affecting his pitching too much. We've had some fatties around before. El Guapo, Wells, et cetera.
I don't see Ortiz being a little leaner as being a bad thing. He hits with his mechanics and his arms; his flab doesn't help get balls over the Monster. :D But, as pointed out, it'll be better for his knees, and might make him get to balls quicker and better on the odd day that he plays 1B out of necessity.
Pedroia at 175? Damn. As a guy who pushes 250, I find that anorexically skinny... but for an infielder it's probably not uncommon.

I've seen better days too, personally though I don't think it will effect the team.

Plus, technically speaking, we're all in-line for a shot at the closer's job anyway. I'm gonna stretch out.

Seems like the Sox always have an overpriced reliever who sucks ass. There were two guys last season who made me throw up every time they came into the game.... I've blocked their names from memory. Sounds like an easy job, though, one that any of us can handle.
Oh, crap, I think I'm remembering. Was Tavares was one of them? :barf:

Oh, God, that's him.
The Ultimate Fighter... couldn't throw for shit, though.
:::sigh:::
Here's hoping it's better this year... but I'm not counting on it.
Nothing gets my blood pressure up more than watching a Sox starter give a good effort, the team's bats keep it in the game, and they enter the 7th with a 4-3 lead... and then the relievers come in and stink up the joint and it's 8-4 before you know it.

And then watching the guys we jettisoned tearing it up on other teams? Yeah. I'll give that a second ""
