I seem to remember one pitcher (Al Nipper?) distracting a mound-charging batter by throwing his glove on the ground right as the batter approached, then cold-cocking the guy when he looked down at the glove.

Are you kidding me? There's a reason this is never up for debate: it's Ryan-Ventura by a LANDSLIDE.

And I watched it on TV live. It was the third-greatest moment of my baseball fan life (see 2004 and 2007). Also, noogie patrol? Really? Those were solid hits.

Sidenote: 4th greatest baseball moment: being part of 42,000 fans booing the Yankees, in unison, during pre-game intros during a 1996 Rangers-Yankees ALDS game (which Texas lost after a 4-hour rain delay). Every other time I have ever gone to Yankees-Rangers the crowd has been 90%+ Yankee fans, but not that day.
