The biggest hurdle is one every new message board faces - getting the word out and getting people to come. All the major search engines crawl the site daily, so as time goes on, search engine rankings should improve, but that takes some real time.

Somehow you need to let other Sox fans know without spamming other boards.

BTW, the rep system is functional, I just have the thresholds fairly high so people do not max out too quickly. In addition to other members adding to your rep, your rep builds over time with the number of posts you make as well. The more rep you have, the more rep power you have to alter others'

I incorporated many of the ideas that people added here for the different reputation sayings.

I don't really think the tagline needs to be changed. Maybe the font, but otherwise, it's fine. I really like the layout of Patriots Planet, honestly, it's one of the best out there. I think the layout of this site can be similar where the font size is slighly smaller (SOX Planet) and underneath that images of the RED SOX 6 WS Banners or something---> Similar to the 3 (SB logos) underneath "Patriots Planet." I think you can picture where I'm going with this.

To the right, we should decide and all agree on a nice photo that captures Fenway Park in an eye-popping and special way. I'll be honest, I am useless when it comes to photoshop and laying out a web site. I think that if we all throw ideas back and forth, we can make this site (curb appeal if you will) more pleasing to the eye. The site looks great, but I think with some minor changes and improvements, it can look even better where in essence get increased memberships and activity.

All the images and icons that are not rectangular have ugly pixelated edges.

I don't know where these images come from, or if you have access to them, but I know how, and would be willing to, fix them myself (to atone for my anal complaining)


And in answer to your question, yes, Superman could break his own arm. No need to send out the file unless they really want it. The file i threw in there was low res on purpose. Wasnt sure how big of a file i could summit. the logo and fonts are all high res on my computer. Now for the recent addition i made, same deal except the World Series Logo and the picture of the score board all came from the internet, I.E. low res. i could throw an unsharp mask on it and mess with it to make it look better. I just took what people said and tried to put it all together then posted it to get feedback and see what people liked and didnt like. If you like it like me know and i will put more time on making it look crisp.

I'm serious. The Red Sox have a very specific shade of red that they use. Well, actually all teams that use the color red (Reds, Angels, Cardinals et al) have a very specific color red that the team owns the rights to. After the '04 WS they released Red Sox red to a paint company. In this thread below, a guy talks about using it...

Right. You can copyright anything except for scents. So, it's not implausibe that the Sox have copyrighted the exact color. I'm sure you can mix colors and get the same color or something close to it.

I'm with you... dark almost old fashion movie type black & whites and sepia along with some nice shadowing and focal points can make even bad pictures look good. what are you working with?

what are you working with?I forget, it came as an added option on my laptop and I never really got into using it - a quick look once - a foolish buy but I rarely use the computer at home for anything but surfing now - I work all day on it even if it seems I post all day - best thing about windows

EDIT: After giving it some thought.. i think im going to try to give it a film type grain. Always like the look of that too in pictures

Yes, do it! The p-shop film grain filter is really quite good, and not cheesy like many of the other filters are.
