The game last night turned on Pedroia's 10 pitch AB. He broke Sabathia physically, as well as his confidence. Pedroia fails to foul off those tough pitches, and gets retired in 4 or 5, and Sabathia finishes the inning without being scored on. Drew's hit was totally the product of Pedroia's AB. A 4 or 5 pitch out for Pedroia, and Sabathia blows Drew away like dry dog poop. And in the 9th, Mo holds the 3-1 lead.

Felt exactly the same way. The fact that he left him out there for Drew speaks to the lack of faith Girardi has in anyone in the bullpen not named Rivera...Girardi had to know Pedroia broke CC, but he had no legit alternative.

Were "if's" and "buts" mixed nuts we'd all have a merry christmas.
There is only one fact to take away from this game.
The Red Sox absolutely, positively, without a doubt, fuggin OWN the Yankees.
The only way Fatassia blows away Drew is if he's on his knees in front of him. I'm just surprised Drew didn't put another dent in the wall like he did with Fatassia in the first inning.
But you could be right, batting .500 for the night against fatassia might have been a fluke.

This mental image has scarred me for life.
Almost as bad as the first time I turned on the new 52 inch plasma screen for the first time and Randy Johnson was on the mound. Right as the thing came on, they had a closeup on Randys face. That's when I realized that regarding technology, just because you CAN have better resolution, that doesn't necessarily mean it's the right idea.
But I knew as soon as Pedroia kept hanging in there that CC was in serious trouble. It just looked like the destiny of that game was for the red Sox to win in the end, despite the (worst) efforts of Delcarguy in that one....

To me the key is the fact that Girardi has to leave his starter in there for 137 pitches in June because he has no reliable set up man. Yes Pedey did a nice job to work that walk, but Green was already on base and still he leaves Sabathia in.
