According to the Herald anyway...
Originally expected back shortly after the All-Star break, sidelined shortstop Jed Lowrie could return to the Red Sox (http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/red_sox/index.bg) lineup as soon as a three-city road trip later this month.
Lowrie, who underwent surgery in April to repair a wrist injury that dates back to last season, has been taking batting practice for the past week. If he doesn’t suffer any setbacks in the next few days, the tentative plan calls for him to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Pawtucket Monday
He acknowledged he’s ahead of schedule and attributed that to his own hard work and the assistance of the team’s training staff

When I was young(er) I went to Rooster's first MLB game in Fenway. He was just a little nervous - three errors worth of "nervous"...
----
I hate it every time they rush a player back. I'd rather suffer with Lug... nah - rush him back!

Man, I don't know. Lowerie may not get any playing time with the Gold Glove logjam that is in front of him.

Have we discussed the "hedge" option at SS? Hedge knocks it down, Lowell runs over to pick it up and throw to first?
I think we have. I don't remember.

I was going to offer my dog to the Red Sox. Only thing Lugo had over him is that the uniform would fit better on Lugo.

I think we have. I don't remember. There is a flaw in your plan. My dead Grandfather can outrun Mike Lowell right now. It might have to be Jason Bay! ;)

As long as Green continues to start, there's no need to rush Lowrie.
Now that I said that, Lugo will start tomorrow night and I will break my television set.

I know Green made a great play on Jeter tonight, but you have to remember that he is still Nick Green. He's only marginally better than Lugo.

You're right, and Green has has some horrible gaffes this season. But for whatever reason, the Red Sox win when he starts.
That said...
Even though Green is a replacement-type player & nothing more than a career reserve, he is MILES better than the 2009 edition of Julio Lugo.

At this point the Sox should just hold a raffle at the start of every game. If they call your seat number you are the starting shortstop for that game. Can't be much worse than what Julio Caesar Salad offers.

Nick Green is a AAAA short stop. He is playing because 1. Lowrie is hurt 2. Lugo sucks and 3. the Sox win when he plays and don't when Jul-E6-o plays
