Top 3 threads stay at the top. Those are threads for new members & a few other important "good to know" items.

There are 3 stickies at the top. Normally any thread that shows up bolded should have new posts in it.

BTW td, I'm assuming this forum will have a game thread, don't spam new threads, because it's different on a Vbulletin forum. Just post in the game thread.

Things better on this board:
No Doc
No deletions
Vulgarity allowed
OT threads allowed
If everyone comes over here, this board >>>>>>> other board.

Yup...nightly game threads. No need to start a new topic...just post in the game thread.

what's not fun is getting banned and watching great threads disappear.
Can you deal with the tradeoff?

even though there is a game thread it doesn't mean you can't start a new thread.

exactly. there have been some great 100+ post off topic threads that got deleted because Bob had a boner for someone's view point or because he wanted to keep the Sox board pure.

I know that, but this isn't the format like the ESPN boards where 100 threads are made an hour. On a Vbulletin board that's pretty much considered spam to the max.

nope. You just went from working for a stodgy old company like IBM to working for Google. Enjoy!

Navigating this board is a little tricky at first, but that's sort of the price for all the bells and whistles.

Well knowing that if the thread is bolded there is a new post that i havent seen makes a huge difference.

Well knowing that if the thread is bolded there is a new post that i havent seen makes a huge difference.
And if you hit the little blue arrow next to the bolded thread, it will bring you to your first unread post.

Nope. It takes quite a bit of effort to get banned here. Personal attacks are usually the key to getting yourself booted. And when they ban you here, you can't just make up a new name and come back.

The threads with new posts are bold here. And there is an added feature they don't have on ESPN. The arrow to the left of the thread will take you directly to the first unread post, so if you are returning to an old thread you have before, you can immediately pick up where you left off instead of having to scroll through the whole thing.
You will get used to this board TD, and I think you will actually start to like the features. The ESPN board was very plain and had no added functionality.

Yup. That's pretty much the one thing that is asked of all new members. Keep it loose and fun. No ripping folks to shreds here.

You're gonna have to try. Sorry.

"You know what else would be tough? Your charred flesh after I take a drench you in kerosene and light you ablaze."
Is that a good example of the type of thing that is discouraged, or are we allowed to playfully threaten posters with fiery death?

even though there is a game thread it doesn't mean you can't start a new thread.we do try to keep the game thread as one thread....not a bunch of run-offs
why post something if no onje will see it and comment...just a wasted thought

You have to realize that they are used to having to create multiple threads in the hope that just one or two might survive long enough to be read by another human.

no I realize that and hope that when they get used to the fact we will not be hitting their noses with a rolled up paper for an infraction, all this ESPN stuff will slip away and we will be SoxPlanet....not the new place and they the old place but a united front against the EVIL EMPIRE

I hope so too. I want them to realize this isn't just an empty board they took over. We've tried that many times and it has always failed. But by colonizing a planet that is already inhabited, they need to adapt to the local culture.
I have been part of both worlds for two years now and I have adapted to this one just fine. I'm hoping that this blended board will work out and I won't have any reason to check the other place any more. It's hard to keep up with 2 boards - 3 actually, since I have been running a small invisionfree baseball board for about 5 years now.

I think you'll have an especially hard time converting TD from this approach...it's sort of his thing.
But other than that, he's a very solid poster.
