MOD EDIT
we have a game thread for these thoughts, we try to contain them so a response can be made and conversation/debate can follow

I dont think there is any doubt that Lugos hourglass is going down FAST
there are probably empty boxes over in the corner of the locker room with his name on them

Tito is a great diplomat, but you can read between the lines there...Tito HATES Lugo.
I think Penny hates him even more.

Maybe it will be an Offerman-like performance after he was DFA'ed when the Floyd trade was made. I think it was Can You Believe It Castiglione who was talking to Floyd in the clubhouse and Offerman comes in kicking shit.
Floyd says "What's going on?"
Castig "I think that's the roster move for you"

The Sox have been shopping him quietly lately. I would love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation. How can Theo even call another GM with a straight face and ask him if he wants Lugo?

I can see another GM telling Theo he would have to include Buchholz in the deal just for them to take Lugo for 50 cents on the dollar

i loved michael kay saying that. shows me a lot about what this kid is doing up there and they should not trade him. dont trade what isnt broken.
He's actually more valuable in his current role than he would be as a "closer," so I hope he stays there for a while. He could win this team some games just by giving them a few dominant innings after a starter gets knocked around.

Just given the fact that it looks like he can pitch consecutive days, and give you more than 1 inning, he can absolutely be more valuable than Paps.

and come in with runners on. I'd be totally for signing paps long term if that means we arent putting bard in the "closer" role.

but he's got 2 walks. as i've been saying for months...if he gets on base that's good enough. we dont need him to hit 30 homers with our offense. just get on base at a reasonable clip and i'm pleased.

He hammered that one ball to the deepest part of the park. He has looked better over the last week or so.

okajima was a little more important than papelbon tonight. he pitched 1 1/3....papelbon pitched 1 inning. both did great to not give up anything, okajima's role was a bit more important.
Exactly. On top of that, the middle innings are typically more important than the late innings.

I agree with this, but as much crap as I've heaped on Papelbon, that was actually a pretty valuable inning. (although it's still just 1 inning)

Come to think of it, there was an unsolved murder at that college just around the time I was graduating. I always thought it was Mr. NG's roommate. (He was a scary dude and very strange).
Maybe it was really TD.
