Hopefully people will enjoy themselves and spread the word

how did you start PP and get the word out? any tips

You guys gotta get the word out. I think adding SoxPlanet to my sig on a couple boards got me banned on one - I even asked if it was ok saying I would remove it - guess I turned into a bad seed by being a sox fan

Most boards (including Patriots Planet) it is word of mouth. It is a tricky thing. You want to mention it to people on other boards without seeming like you are spamming. I think most members of PP are aware of it, the people on other Sox boards probably not. It is a long haul thing though. PP went for a couple of years before there was real good activity.

Speaking of Newsbot, I think it is a great feature we can use, but we need to find a source that doesn't overload with too many stories. Keep your eye out for RSS links at news sources. Ideally it would pull a couple of stories a day that would get conversation going.

I think I'll try the official Red Sox feed. We'll see how that works out.

This is what PP was like in the early days. The difference was that PP started in November, '02. The Pats were current and we got alot of refugees from the official Pats board.

There are definitely many potential members out there who either can't register with SOSH, Royal Rooters, etc or don't want to deal with the insane traffic on those boards.
