I just watched it on Comcast and I am more excited than when I started the previous thread....I know I am becoming repetitive.

I can't wait to see how Rondo has improved. I can't wait to see the rookies. I can't wait to see where Pruitt fits in. I miss the intensity of Kevin Garnett. I miss hearing the introductions when the say...the captain and the truth Paul Pierce. I miss Ray Allen's 3 pointers. I miss and can't wait to see if that awesome defensive is still there.

And I will miss Posey...I will miss his clutch shots and his great defense especially on Kobe. I will miss the Posey pre-game hugs....they always made me laugh.

Did you notice who got top billing in my list?

what about this bill walker kid i keep hearing about? looks like he can pull off some explosive dunks.

Preseason has been extremely fun to watch.

Bill Walker IS explosive and his dunks are spectacular, though he still hasn't shown me much of his mid-range game. He is big and strong, with about the same frame as Pierce.

JR Giddens has shown flashes of brilliance so far, his defense is very good. He can hit the jumpers as well. It seems the only knock on him is his ability to learn the system, which was also a problem in college.

Tony Allen, my boy, looks like he is over his knee injury. Playing the 2 he seems much more comfortable driving to the hoop, and he has done it extremely well. I think only Pierce is a better slasher than Tony at this point. It's no mystery that this is the strongest part of his game, but he has shot very well from the field as well. So combine these two assets, and strength in one opens up opportunities for the other. It's good.

Patrick O'Bryant has shown some potential so far. He is very long, and seems to be a very good shot blocker. He had Tommy going off on some of his jump hooks the other day; I was excited too. It does look like he has trouble rebounding and catching passes because of his clumsiness (which is to be expected when your arms extend down to your knees)

Pruitt has done pretty well this preseason, too. He has been adequate with point guard duties, but his defense - especially his stealing ability - has impressed me the most. He hasn't taken enough shots, but he has good range.

All the starters seem to be where they should be physically, and I haven't seen enough of Rondo to see if he has improved at all.

This year is gunna be fun!

dhughes...Tony Allen does appear to be over his knee injury. It is the type of injury that takes a couple years to completely get over. He also looked hesitant at times last year.

The starters look very much in sync...

I was at the Celtics open practice yesterday (which was fun time) and O'Bryant did look awkward mostly playing with the third team. Maybe it is the way he practices but he didn't really look into it.

I can't contain myself. Can't believe it is only a week away. the best part of all is that I will be there. That increases the excitement level.

New location doesn't seem to help the team. Makes you wonder about the ownership. Was the game a sell out?

Sorry to say I feel asleep during the game.

Pierce came up huge again last night 34 points and a buzzer beater to give the Celts a one point win over the previously unbeaten Hawks. Nice!!!!!

Mikiemo83
11-13-2008, 02:01 PM
yeah that was a crazy game with the Hawks shooting close to 60% from 3 pt

Peirce in showing what he can do and Garnett is a freaking monster...I only wish we had him when he was young

I didn't see a single high-light of the W in Milwaukee but I heard:

OT
Pierce had 28
Allen had 27

Pierce has to be one of the top five players in the NBA right now. Where would you place him on the list of all time Celtics players?

Pierce has to be one of the top five players in the NBA right now. Where would you place him on the list of all time Celtics players? I don't know if he goes top five? Let me think about that.

First for me is Russell. Then Bird. Havlicek. Cousy. McHale. Then maybe Pierce falls in the second 5. Hmmm. You could argue Cowens, Sam Jones, Sharman, Heinsohn, Parish. Anybody else want to register a opinion?

I agree that Russell is number. I think he always will be and then Bird. I would not put McHale before Pierce.

There have been so many great Celtics that it is difficult to rank them.

Wait a minute. Not only was McHale a member of arguably the "greatest team" in NBA history. The 1985-86 Celtics. He won 3 championships, is in the Hall of Fame and has his number retired by the C's. He is also on the NBA's 50 greatest players in NBA history list. Sorry but today Kevin McHale deserves to be higher on the list than Paul Pierce.

it is amazing how well they are doing, with no Posey many thought this would not happen.

I just think the Powe/ Big Baby combo is working and Allen is fully recovered from teh knee injury and finally listening to the coaches
