Not often we get to see two knucklers duel it out (or what passes for a duel when the ball flutters).

Thanks for the welcome - good day for Wake so far, mixing it up some and out of his not unusual 'settling down' period.
I am enjoying this piecemeal lineup - Francona being creative again.

I think he is making the best of what he has to work with. Seems to be working today....so far.

I like JD in the third spot while Papi's out - not just for the leftie-rightie configuration, but I feel like he'll step up to the batting spot as long as he's healthy.
JD's a deep pool, but somewhere in him there's gotta be some passion that Tito can tweak to best advantage. I really like him batting before # 24.

At the least!
What a wild ride that one's been on since he hit his 500th - just one week ago!

I know No. 504 Went to New Hampshire. That was a bomb.
And a nice DP by Lugo and Cora. Lugo got his act together on the defense.

As long as he stays productive I think he will get most of the AB's in the 3 hole. But Francona may mix it up depending on who is pitching while Papi is out.

Wow a Youkilis error.

I don't think this is what Francona wanted to happen. OK Paps settle the heck down and get out of here.

Wow a Youkilis error.
I think Youk needs to be allowed to keep throwing equipment around in the clubhouse - maybe one of the reason he's been so error free is he's been using up excess adrenaline taking it out on equipment.
Never mess with a successful practice - it's a mojo thang,
SamBam39

That's more like it. K for Paps! Now get the DP.

(The following is Sarcastic, aimed at a fellow poster with a tendency to badmouth players only after they have performed badly, and then disappear while things are going good for said players)
Tim Wakefield is an anchor of epic proportions and cant be cut loose from the Sox fast enough.

For a second there I thought you were talking about me. ;) Seriously, he was pretty solid yesterday. Take away the one blip inning and that was a very good performance.

Thanks for explaining the anchor remark was sarcasm - wouldn't want this newbie to go spastic and then look ridiculous.
Major Wake luver here - and it's been frustrating this season that he hasn't been stringing consecutive GREAT starts together - frustrating because when he has it ON, as he did yesterday with all SPEEDS, and as he did in his start of May 7 when he had all PITCHES going, he's been as effective as he's been at any time of his long career.
Yesterday's was a great game - Tito's supposedly ineffective lineup working out bigtime ended up illustrating this team's fine depth. 24 gave Wake some wiggle room with that early homer that had garage attendants ACROSS Landsdowne St scuttling..JD coming out of his shell where it counts most - his bat...Coco, Cora, Casey, all contributing. The one down note was Youk's error-free streak ending, but it was cool to see him and 24 connected again. Anyone who had any doubt a Francona led team would falter with 'bad chemistry' is nuts. Terry's real gift is in his team building.
And oh yeh, I love Manny no matter what, but seeing him add the '34' forearm to the '34' scratched into his battered batting helmet - another example of how a player lost to down-time is shown he still contributes - this team rocks..just ROCKS!
Lets's see what kind of combo Terry comes up with today..
