for some reason sporting events on my TV look TERRIBLE not in HD

even worse than reg SDTV

Are they stretched out to the whole screen when its not in HD?

If it is then pick up the clicker and change the aspect to 4:3 or standard. It will look much better, especially if you have an LCD.
