Why on earth would the NBA allow for a new round to begin while two teams are still duking it out to advance to the next round?
The Cavs beat the Wizards in 6 and earned their rest over the Celtics. But the Pistons also beat the Sixers in 6 and they're already up 2-0 on Orlando. What if the Cavs win this series? Then they would essentially have been penalized because the CELTICS could not defeat Atlanta before a 7th game. To me that makes to sense at all.
My point is, say the Cavs beat the Celtics in however many games it takes. It's quite possible that Detroit could defeat Orlando in the same number of games it took the Cavs to beat the Celtics, yet the Pistons will be much more rested because their series began so much earlier.
