I haven't had a chance to see the entire last couple of Jon Lester starts (except for quick snippets) but is it me or is he pounding the strike zone more consistently now --- not nibbling corners or trying to be too fine with batters?
all I'm seeing are K highlights to go by
is he pitching differently and being more challenging?

All I know is that before yesterday's game, my kid was 7 months old. By the time the 9th inning rolled around, my kid had graduated college, been married, had a kid of his own and bought a house.
Is Lester the new Frank Castillo or what? Dude makes time stand still.

Is Lester the new Frank Castillo or what? Dude makes time stand still.so is Lester being deliberately challenging to hitters albeit slowly or no? :suicide:
your complaint about the length of game sounds suspect to me on account of Lester said he was working more quickly than before "so that bad thoughts didn't come into my [his] head" during his post-game interview so wtf, ovah? :bozo: :shrug_n2:

I don't know. He hasn't given up many runs, but 112 pitches in 6 innings does not smell of pounding the strike zone.

I think he is still adjusting, I feel he is back where he should have been coming into last season, his weight and strength returned.
he gets into a lot of 2-0 and 3-0 counts but fights his way out, when he avoids that his pitch count remains what it should be, the problem is either pitcher could appear at any moment of a game, he lacks consistency

Yeah I saw that, but I don't think he is consistent yet. He is getting there.
I think he is going to be a valuable piece of the rotation this year.

He managed to keep pace with Halladay the start prior but yesterday was back to his normal, snails-pace.
I'm not going to criticize his early pitch count because Lugo's error had a large impact on it (although he was already high). But he moves quite slowly.
