The Red Sox have questions about the condition of J.D. Drew's surgically repaired right shoulder, questions that have kept them from finalizing a deal for the free agent right fielder two weeks after Drew's agent, Scott Boras, announced at the winter meetings that the Sox and Drew had come to terms on a five-year, $70 million contract.

They better figure out the situation with Drew. Trot Nixon is still available. From the beginning, I wasn't too happy about JD Drew. They gave way too much money to a guy that is injury prone.

trade Millie Wo Pena for a closer and sign Trot as a 4th Outfielder - Drew can play Center if Coo-Coo is hurt
also Hinske is a corner player both infield and outfield so we will see
Drew's agent Bore-ass got beat down by Theo and the man and now with their new found glory the F.O. is feeling frisky and trying to lower the cost of JC Drew like they did Dice-K

Trade Pena for which closer? I think youre seriously over valueing Pena's trade value, and seriously over estimating how many closers are available. I think that if it was as simple as trading Willy Mo straight up for, say Bobby Jenks or Joe Nathan it would have been done already. At this point it wouldnt surprise me at all to see Hansen or Delcarmen or some other internal young guy start the season as the closer.

not Jenks or Nathan but the next version of.... the guy got screwed with his original contract and never put the time in the minors - I think it was the yankmees that 1st signed Willie and there was a clause about getting to the bigs in a certain amount of time - he has never got the at bats needed to polish his swing, 2 or 3 years from now he will be a terror.
I am talking the pirates closer - Gonzales or the japanese closer in texas who Gagne will replace.
foolish to think Nathan/ Jenks but maybe the next one about to break out

I would definitely trade Willy Mo or even Coco for Gonzales but I heard the Yankees were interested in him.
The Red Sox have to do something over the closer situation. At this point, I say they should try out the Japanese relieve pitcher they signed (I think his name is Hideki Okijima or something close to that).
