[Undertaker #59]

If you are new here, here is the deal. This forum was originally just created to be a temp forum for when Patriots Planet went down. The other 98% of the time it sat here doing nothing, so I figured I would try and give it a little purpose in this world, while still being able to use it as a temp forum when needed. (There is a separate forum for the temp pats stuff).

If you are new to the "Planet" way of doing things, it is more or less like a tailgate. Yeah, you are going to talk mainly about the Red Sox here (if anyone joins), but you can also talk about anything else, sports related or not. The style should be pretty laid back, be interesting to see if that will work with the Red Sox fan base.

We'll give it some time to see if it can be successful...I really have no idea what the market is like for Sox boards.

I am also not even close to a graphics guy, so if anyone can come up with a new banner, or new colors, etc...feel free.

Ideally, we'll get a few of you to be dedicated to the site and help it grow, probably leading to mod positions.

Or it could just collect dust here like it has been. :icon_pidu

It is going to take awhile to get going, and will require some commitment from you regulars to keep threads going and to get the word out. I have done a lot of work getting it indexed in search engines, but the only way to improve search engine rankings now is time and activity.

I am excited for the guys at Boston College right now who are almost ready to produce at the Majors

This is the third year the Red Sox have held their Rookie Program, which Hazen estimates only a couple of other Major League clubs do.

Four of the players (Craig Hansen, Kason Gabbard, David Murphy and David Pauley) tasted at least a cameo with the Red Sox last season. The other eight (Nick Debarr, George Kottaras, Clay Buchholz, Kyle Jackson, Edgar Martinez, Chad Spann, Jacoby Ellsbury and Brandon Moss) are viewed to be reasonably close to making their Major League debuts.

How do the prospects get selected?

"It's a fairly loose criterion," said Hazen. "We didn't do the program last year, so there were some guys who may have been candidates to come last year that we sort of condensed into this year, too. I think the expectation is guys who are within an 18-month timeframe to get to the big leagues. It's not just for rookies. It's for guys that we want to help ease the transition not only to the big leagues, but for the guys that are here to stay."

Ugh, its been a bad week. Well I will show you what i did to pass the time and it sure beat actually working. If you like it feel free to use it.. if not like i said i did it to pass the time and try out something.. which didnt work but hey thats the way it goes sometimes. let me know what you think... everything can be changed... i also noticed we used different reds... that can be changed.

Fantastic work....too late tonight for me to do anything, but I'll put it up over the weekend and see if I can change the background color of the board to match and we can all give our opinion on that then.

I think it looks great. How does the background red look? On my home CRT monitor it looked fine, but on the LCD I am using now it is very bright. Perhaps I need to adjust it.

I also changed all the border reds to the color that was previously the background color.

on my computer at here at work it looks good. wish the idea i had for the baseball came out better though.. was originally trying to make the ball into a planet with the baseball threads but after my first attempt failure i decided to just go with a normal baseball. will try to make it look with the original design i had in mind. was trying to make the two sites similar with the planet

You should be able to, just has to fit in the size guidelines, which is harder with an animated GIF than with a JPG, unless you remotely host it.
