Despite last night's physical game with the Spurs, I think the Celtics can end the Rockets win streak. I just don't think the Rockets match up with the Celtics. Mutoumbo (sp) must be 100. T Mac feed everyone the ball against the Lakers but his scoring was limited. I am impressed with the 27 year old rookie from Argentina whose name escapes me at the moment.
But they just seemed to be overmatched by Garnett, Pierce, Rondo and let's even through in Perkins. The Celtics bench is tough. The Celtics don't quit.

Jumping on the Celtics bandwagon here. Watched the 4th quarter of tonight's action. Very impressive (and easy) win after a hard-fought Spurs victory.
Anyone want to give me a condensed run-down on the guys not named Allen, Garnett, Pierce, and Cassell on this team? The bench was pretty impressive tonight, but (partly being an out-of-stater who doesn't get a chance to watch the C's often) I honestly don't know what roles these guys play on the team.

I start a game thread and then I never returned...well I was watching the game.
You must know Rondo and Perkins at this point. I jumped on the bandwagon last year because despite the losing streak I loved this kids. Plus my son was in to basketball big time.
Keep your eye on Rondo...this is his second year...if he continues to grow the way he has this he will be the point guard of the century. Okay I exaggerate but I am a big fan of his. He is a young kid responsible for directing this team on the court. For the most part, he has done a tremendous job.
At the start of the season the bench was the question mark but they have proven everyone wrong. Posey was on the Miami Heat when they won their last championship.
Leon Powe was drafted the same year that Rondo was, I believe. (Danny seems to be able to identify some talent). He was playing back up for Perk. He's not a big guy but has been in there banging the boards.
Glen Davis was drafted in the second round this year...seems he was a sleeper pick. He had gained some weight his last year in college and GMs weren't of the mind to take a chance.
The Celtics drafted Tony Allen but he had that serious knee injury last year and was out for most of the year. He has played some back up point guard before the arrival of Cassell.
PJ Brown is the old man who is a recent addition. He was not playing when he agreed to return to the Celtics. He is suppose to be the big man replacing Perkins.
I forget where Eddie House is from. I am sure I am forgetting someone. He has been also been playing back up point guard but he is not very good at bringing the ball up the court and his dribbling skills are suspect. I think he was brought on board for hitting those 3 pointers as he did against the Spurs.

Quick recap - other can fill you in better
Rondo - PG, good defense, can drive but needs to work on outside shot (the reason Cassel was brought on)
Perkins - C, Again defense and rebounding...any offense is a plus, usually off of a defensive switch when he is alone
PJ Brown is a the Robert Horry Role - a Vet who is rested for the playoffs
Big Baby Davis C/PF, Rookie learning, will have a good game followed by a bad game followed bty a great game...a player if he can control the Barkley Weight Comparision
Tony Allen SG/SF Defense 1st recovering from a serious knee injury to left leg. He can ball but injuries have hurt him
Powe PF/C, Rebound machine who can score but dropped in Draft after a couple of serious KNee injuries
House PG/SG instant offense of the bench
Posey F role player

Like Patti said, watch Rondo as he grows into one of the best point guards in the league. I was telling everyone who said "meh the celtics have the big three but they don't got no one else," I was telling them "mark my words and remember this conversation - Rondo will surprise the world." And he has, and will continue to improve ... possibly the most outspoken Celtic behind KG, Rajon is a warrior who has Jason Kidd-like rebounding potential, flashy and intelligent passing skills, and he can slash to the basket like nobody's business. If you were watching the Spurs game closely you might have saw Rondo break on a 4-on-1 in the Spurs favor and seen him go in between all 4 of them and put up a good lay-up. It's that kind of play, that kind of confidence that is going to put this kid over the top. Once he gets a better jump shot (and it is getting better, his 15-18 footers) he will be arguably the best PG in the conference, maybe behind Bibby and Billups.

I can't disagree with anything you have said. Since last year, I have watched his ability, his confidence, and his intensity grow. He also has the opportunity to learn from Doc and from great players.
Kudos to Danny for seeing his potential and not trading him away to Minnesota.

Thanks all for your answers. I thought all along once the Celts added Garnett and Allen, that the secret to making those additions a success would be the distribution of the basketball, i.e. the point guard. Seems like he's doing a great job.
Anyone else a little miffed to see Garnett playing garbage time against the Rockets?

Yes and No ... he really shouldn't have been out there the way the game was with the fighting and all that, but Doc did take him out after the back-to-back dunks which was smart. I'm just thinking that coach had to have had a reason to keep him out there, I mean he was struggling a bit so maybe it was a confidence thing, who knows :reche:

I wouldn't say I was miffed but did find it a bit curious. We need a healthy Garnett for the playoffs.
I checked out a couple Houston message boards. They were more than miffed obout KG's dunks to the point where they were calling him a punk.

Garnett needs to be policed, he wants to play 48 and practice for 3 hours every off day...Gym Rat is what he is but he is now our Gym Rat so that is a good thing
I think Doc is getting overlooked a bit. he has done a great job with the bench this season knowing who to play and in what games. may not be a nightly set rotation but I think he, like BB, sees a players weakness and will play him more or less base on the opponent match up

Yeah usually when fans can't make sense of who you're playing but you're winning all your games, that means you're a wicked good coach.
