Yeah, it seems to be the case. You can view, and read threads, if you wait long enough, but you cant post. I got one post in there earlier though.
how did that paper turn out? You really do it on Fitzy and depressed fans?

Nah, I wish...I feel like I could write 10+ pages about that.:sulk:
The actually assignment was to write a 5 page book review. It was tough because book reviews are usually 150-200 words, not 5 pages! The paper was due at 4:30 and, true to form, I was printing it at 4:26 and running to class with it.
I'm going to be up late again tonight too because on Mondays I work as an EMT-in-training for my university's squad. We've been kinda busy tonight, so I didn't really get much done earlier and I've got lab reports up the wazoo to write. :icon_hang

10 pages is about right to dissect a book though...

Yeah, but 10 pages was what I remember for those things, and 50 for a term paper..Sorry bout that, you have an old fashioned professor.
I majored in mechanical engineering, and the lab papers were just as long, if I remember right.

Wow...I am only taking intro courses right now so most of my stuff is 5 pages and under. Although I do have a 10 page term paper to do...that's the longest I'll have.
50 pages is crazy, I hope I never have to do that.

Where you goin to school again?
I went to U Lowell, before the merger, when it was considered one of the best in the country for engineering. So the curriculum and course load were brutal. You could always spot us engineering majors, because we would just be coming out of our rooms as the parties were dying out and everyone was passing out!

Ungh. Lab reports. Takes as much time to do and write as the main class. Counts for ~25%. Somehow, classes that can be sailed through are accompanied by labs whose confusing purpose are rivaled only by inexplicably self-important and tyrannical go-getters for TAs. (Except, of course, for the rare instructive lab.)
Titan: A 50-pager sounds improbable, at least for undergrad. Year 1-2, lots of busy-work, be it school mandate to weed out the feeble, over gumptious rookie profs, etc. Be able to stretch out crud to convince others. Sign of an active mind. Year 3-4, classes get more specific. Arbitrary lengths get relaxed, but bringing the meat is expected.
Personally, I stormed into college thinking I was the greatest mind that ever was. If they wanted 20 and I gave them only 7, I said it well, said it strong, and told them why they should be happy about it. Keep in mind, college profs are either intellectuals with an interest in new perspectives or hard-ass drill instructors with a superiority complex. Recognize the difference early and often, and the journey has less bumps.

Okay, you people are starting to freak me out.
First someone says they almost hit me on the highway in the snow, now you're saying that--like me--you went to U. Lowell before the merger.
I was there from September 1986 through early 1989, when I withdrew and transferred to UMass/Boston. I was a civil engineering major but, after two and a half years, decided I didn't like math, LOL. Calc I sucked, Calc II sucked more, Calc III totally lost me, and by Differential Equations I was beyond clueless.
Of course, it didn't help that I spent most of my time in the two sub shops... On one side of the street I think was Lena's, run by some Asian women, and they made a mean pepper steak. On the other side was some dingy bar that served giant glasses of soda and had some decent pinball machines, but I stopped going there after I found a cockroach doing the backstroke in my Mountain Dew.
I also tended to spend way too much time in the video arcade. That was when "Gauntlet" came out, and there was another guy there who skipped a lot of classes and he and I mastered that game. He was the Wizard, and I was the Elf, and both of us were so good that we could literally play all day for a quarter.
I would also head down the highway whose number I can't remember right now, on the north side of the river, and then over the crappy little (Tyngsboro?) bridge and on to Nashua NH where I'd wander the Pheasant Lane Mall. (I still remember the T road sign before the street to the bridge, where someone had spray-painted "Mr." over it, LOL.)
It was actually a pretty cool school. Nerds on North campus, hot chicks on South campus. (I had one class there... it was like freakin' nirvana.) Having to park in that giant lot near Fox Hall and tromp your ass across the bridge. Surveying the grass in front of the library with plumb bobs and notebooks. Wondering how lethal the miniature nuclear-reactory looking building was, LOL. Good times.

I'm not fond of the method for uploading pics with this version... you have to open a seperate little window, go find the image, upload it, close the window... seems like more work.
I don't care about rep points either.
Mousing over the thread title doesn't do much for me either since you only see the first post.
I guess I like the Planet just the way it is...
