Because no one's posting.
So what's the deal here anyhoo? No one ever officially said. Is this the Long Awaited Big VBulletin Upgrade Day? Or did UT take mercy on us and finally pull the plug so we don't have to listen to trolls tell us how bad the Pats suck?
I wish CKA would contact someone.
NASCAR starts up soon. Am I the only one who doesn't think "Junior" is gonna do much with his new team? I'm just not that impressed with him. He constantly underachieves. He's the Peyton Manning of NASCAR circa pre-2006 (except, unlike Peyton, I don't see Junior getting his championship). Would anyone even know this guy if he was named Hymie Schickelgruber?
Political note: I think if Clinton and Obama joined forces on the same ticket, and McCain did the same with Romney or Huckabee, we might actually have an election where everyone votes.
Shirtsleeve: post more fondling lesbo pics, will you? I'm bored. :sulk:

Saw this on CNN.com...
Feds: U.S. analyst leaked secrets to China
A U.S. Defense Department analyst has been arrested and charged with espionage, accused of passing American military secrets to the Chinese government. Court documents unsealed today identify the defense worker as Gregg William Bergersen, 51, of Alexandria, Virginia.
I say... Execute him. Quickly, swiftly, by hanging or electrocution, and televise it.

I have no idea why no one has been posting. I tried to give the forum a little goose this morning with some new threads but it has been slow. Maybe we need better topics.
As far as the board being down, we must assume it is the migration to the new server. ChiefsPlanet is as down as we are (technically, the boards are not down, sometimes you can get on, but it is SO intermittent that it is worthless). I sent Austin an email this morning, have not heard back from him.
Oh BTW, this would NOT be for the board upgrade. Only for the server upgrade.

If I post here or start a thread, it will do no good when the main forum comes up. Why waste my best work?
Besides, the other guy posts on the main forum.

I'm just trying to figure out why Amy Winehouse is a big deal. Don't get it.

I share your puzzlement, BushyT. After she won 4 Grammys I decided I was hopelessly outdated and should at least hear her sing. So I checked out her "big hit" Rehab. Yawn. Then I watched her video performance. Yawn again. What's all the hubbub, Bub? I can name at least 10 female vocalists without even trying who blow that curiosity off the stage. Maybe nobody's seen an artist lately trying to copy the B-52s shtick. As far as I can see, her beehive and Vampira eyeliner are her only claims to fame. ??
But what do I know? I still refer to music as "records." :)

Yeah, I think the attraction with her is all in what appears to be immaculate hygiene.
NOT.
Oh, and also the heroin-addicted nod.

Me neither. There are plenty of rockin' chicks out there, from as far back as the 70s (Pat Benatar, Blondie) to the trailblazing "emo" chicks who didn't even know they were trailblazing (Kate Bush and Suzanne Vega, who both kick ass) to more modern women (Alanis Morrissette) and even the slutty ones who can actually sing (Christina Aguilera) and some who aren't as good (Gwen Stefani). The women in the B-52s. The Heart sisters. Lita Ford. Hell, throw a dart and you'll hit a better female singer (or at least one who's more entertaining). The only notable thing about Winehouse is that she's a headcase.

It's because everyone wants to say they saw the next great Amer... errr... European disaster story. "So talented, yet she threw it all away as a ridiculous addict!"
Any truth to the rumors that this walking OD is related somehow to P4E?
... oh. That joke's been done before? Well sheit.

I think she really might have something, a la a modern day Joplin. Yes, she is one-dimensional and seemingly as forced as my comparison. But, she harkens a classic style and does do it well. She is still young and may grow. Either way, she is hot via a sound most kids have never heard of before and think is new, like the mini-skirt (old hat, but always new and exciting the first time for every generation).
High flame out potential, high classic musician potential. I like her, but I can't put on her album and zone out with the repeat feature on. We'll see how the mp3=hits machine question plays out. People say the album/musician is dead, yet the radio has always been a Top-40 one-hit wonder machine. Same thing, different day to me.
Supposedly Prince is very high one her. IF he is transitioning into being a backstage Wizard of Oz, I give her 50-50 on being an all-time great, as it were. Conversely, she could easily be forgotten in five.
She CAN sing a song, though. My problem is that she sounds great on tape and local band-like live. This, however, was also a trademark of most 60s bands who are now regarded as hallmarks of musicianship. Consistency takes a backseat to momentary perfection. I'm cool with that, too. It's life.

I think this sums it up best
we love the disaster story until the disaster happens and then we look for the next one, move over Whitney, Amy is borrowing your crack Pipe for Conjugal visits
