Memories still linger of the US government's failed response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and how it hurt Bush's standing. The president, however, dismissed comparisons between Katrina and the wildfires, stressing that the most pressing issue now was to help those affected by the fires.
"There's all kinds of time for historians to compare this response to that response," Bush said during a tour of the state's fire-ravaged communities.
Vintage Bush. "We will let historians in the future be the judges of the present." Scary way of thinking.
This article (http://www.alternet.org/environment/66178/) accuses Bush of taking priority for the wealthy over the poor. I personally think that there is a chance that he had learned his lesson, but with his future history book as grim as it is anyway why would he care any different than he did 2 years ago? Only time will tell what kind of effort is put into Southern Cal compared to New Orleans, which still has made snail-like progress in rebuilding according to numerous sources.
