Dear Baseball Gods.......
Guys, I don't ask for much here as our Red Sox take on the Rocky Mountain Oysters but allow me the following indulgence......
Please do not let Julio Lugo showboat --- he thinks he's good at it but he really sucks at it usually resulting in an error or a sh!tty at bat
Please do not allow Curt Shilling to fvckup his Primo-Time Showcase opportunity to get a decent career-ending contract somewheres after what he has meant to Boston baseball
Please lift the burden of carrying the team off the bum knee of David Ortiz
Please give JD Drew his 100-RBI style stroke back before I have a stroke watching those girlie-wavy things he fashions at times during his ABs
and last but by no means least, should you Men deem it that the Red Sox win the '07 WS and even though there are many here who don't think she is hawt, please make Tina Cervasio change into a nice white cotton turtleneck without bra before she makes her way to the champagne & beer soaked clubhouse --- I'll have the DVR fired up

let's go sox! i'm pumped!
Great video opening by FOX. Lots of old series memories. Brought some tears to my eyes along with the pics from Outside Fenway. Reminded me of the days that I remember, and havent been a part of for 19 years, being here in Arizona.
Then, it all got ruined when the female reporter began talking. Sorry, thats my age speaking, cant handle female voices in the world of sports, except WNBA, of course.
Anyway, its not important, on with the game.

Crap guys... It's going to rain. A lot. This could be a horrible waste of Josh Beckett if they can't make this an official game!
That worries me because they will o nly have two options, to play the game to a nine inning conclusion, no matter how heavy it rains, or, call it after five innings, and that could turn out to be a negative for the Sox.
Thats part of the problem with all this night world series games. The good old days was when they played them in the afternoon, warmer, and a chance to play later in the day if the weather was bad. TV controls the games now. What a pity.
I went to every game in 67, all in the daytime, and they were great, except we lost in game 7.

Finally, the National Anthem, performed in the manner in which it is supposed to be played, by John Williams conducting the world's greatest orchestra, the Boston Pops.
One of my pet peeves has always been the manner in which our National Anthem is jazzed up by recording stars, etc...

It's true it gives you a bigger window, but a lot of fans would be screwed if it was played during the day.

Most real fans dont get to go, anyway. The seats are sold to the rich and famous, and the wealthy and sushi crowd. The World Series should still be played in the daytime. Those that want to go, if they can get tickets, willfind a way.

I'm talking about the millions of people that watch it on TV and work during the day. Hard to watch a day game if you have to work. Skipping work for one game like the Superbowl is one thing, but a possible 7 game series is a lot harder :(

Thats what im saying. Its better to just call the game now, than to try to play through a downpour, or worse, call the game after 2 or 3 innings and waste a Beckett start. I want to see a game as much as the next guy, but what i REALLY want to see is the Sox hoisting the trophy.
The heavy stuff looks like it's coming not too much later though :(
I'm sure it's going to have to rain cats and dogs before they'd stop the game.
And yet another reason why they need to shorten the season and play these games earlier in October.
This will be the coldest, and possibly the wettest and/or snowiest on record.

When the series was played in the day, those that wanted to watch it on TV, or listen of the radio before TV, found a way.
And, I am willing to bet that, in Boston and Denver, all offices will have TV's going during the series.

When I was younger, they played doubleheaders on almost every Sunday (1 admission price) and if they did that again, they could easily cut 2 weeks off of the length of the season. And cut out the interleague games and add a few more in division games, and they could finish a lot earlier, and a lot warmer.

MLB needs to consider a major rule changee for the post season regarding the number of innings it takes to be an "official" game.
The 5 inning rule can be a factor in determining winners. I think that there should be no 5 inning rule and that a game must go 9, even if they have to finish it the next day.

If the game gets rained out isn't it just picked up the next day from the inning when it was called? For some reason I thought it was different in the playoffs/WS
Curious here, why is Lugo batting eighth and not Jacoby?
