View Full Version : Where is Jacoby?

Am I the ONLY one bent tht we haven't seen Jacoby Ellsbury in the lineup?

I was thinking you sit JD Drew down for 1 game, and you sit Coco down for 1 game in each series, and see what Jacoby can do in the playoffs.

Now, we are facing elimination, and it's because we can't score runs.

I blame Francona at least partly for not giving JE some at bats. It's not like he is a liability on defense, and he was a great hitter for us. Yet Tito can't find room in the lineup for him.

ellsbury needs to go in for Crisp, what do they have to lose? Crisp can be a late game pinch runner and ellsbury is probably a better hitter at this point anyway

It won't happen tonight with CC pitching. They will stick with Coco's anemic right-handed bat.

So....Jacoby is going to spend the whole series watching the sox spiral around the drainpipe as he sits on the bench?

I think he might crack the lineup at Fenway if we win tonight. At least, I hope so.

If Buckholz and Jacoby were playing, this might be an entirely different series we're looking at. But noooo... it's better to lose a very good immediate shot a championship and be extra extra extra (extra) careful and avoid a 1% chance that some young player will have some lingering long term effects. Seriously, it's so frustrating - but I'm sure you all knew that already.

100% agreement. Exhibit A is when we had a chance to go up 2-0 and the only options in the pen in the 11th inning were Gagne, Lester (without bullpen experience), and Lopez.

While I'm not a Francona apologist, I haven't bashed him this year (for the most part). But what he's doing this post-season defies logic. Sure, Ellsbury's a rookie but he's also got a better average, better speed and is the same defensively as Coco and Drew.

Letting Jacoby rot on the bench is nonfeasance!

I can almost guarantee that Tito is not the one making the call as to weather Ellsbury plays or not. It's Theo & Co.

Theo's plan for Ellsbury coming into the post-season was for PH duties. Rarely do they ever deviate from their primary plan.

But I agree with those who have said they would not be surprised to see him in a Game 6, were one to take place.

Why bother playing the best option at CF? Tito is content on starting true "all stars" like Coco and Kielty.

NEVER put off today for tomorrow, because tomorrow may NEVER come.

Jacoby should have been in the lineup two games ago.

And, so should have been Keilty.

Coco and Nancy should have been watching the games instead of being IN the games.

Experience in post season play has nothing to do with it, at all. The bases are still 90 feet apart, the pitchers rubber is still 60 ft. 6 inches away, the balls and bats are no different..... those two are being shafted, and Sox fans everywhere are being shafted by the coaching staff's refusal to make change. No excuses can be accepted, or tolerated, if they lose again tonight, and Crisp and Drew are pitiful again, at the bat.
