View Full Version : J.D. Drew for MVP

My buddy and I were recently talking about some MVP condidates and we came to the consensus that our own Mr. Drew was the Most Valuable Player in MLB. Now bear with me on this one. Our reasoning was that, his value goes far beyond the boundaries of just one team. Every other MVP condidate had a dramatic impact on their club, but J.D. Drew's play was a momentous factor in aiding every other AL team keep up with Boston.
When you look at the total value quotient Drew's value to 13 teams far outweighs the value guys like Arod provide their one team.
I welcome your thoughts.

J.D. Drew - a hands down winner for making RF with the Red Sox the Most Vacant Position.

JD Drew had a good September, and played extremely good defense all season long, in what is largely regarded the hardest RF to play in the majors. I think people underestimate how changing leagues affects some players. All the JD Drew haters sign up now, so when he bounces back next season i can just resurrect this one thread. ;)
If he falls flat on his face, well then you'll be able to gang up and make me eat my words :)

I believe he'll do better next season than he did this season, but I can still be pissed off at him for sucking this year.

Ok here's my name... I don't care if he leads the league next year in home runs i still don't like him.... you can add Manny to my list too. If Drew does well next year i would give respect where respect is due... like manny, but liking him... nope, cant do that.

I think Drew should get some stiff competition from Mr. Gagne.

Hmmm lets study this some more.... Should Gagne get it over Drew even though Drew was here the entire season? Or you can reverse it... should it be that Drew wins because he was here the entire season... i must ponder this for a while

Count me in on the hater bandwagon. JD wasn't worth 14 million even in his BEST years. If he makes more than Big Papi, I want to see Big Production....say....28 home runs and a .295 batting average.
Am I going to see that next year?

I think you might, and you also might see around 120 rbis...then again, i just dont know, i'd like to think he had a bad year because of his family crisis, he did have 20 hr and 100 rbis in the awful dodgers lineup

Hopefully you didnt compromise your principals last night and cheer when the Reviled One hit that grand slam. I would hate to think you were a hypocrite :)

Notice that I didn't bump this thread when he killed the first inning rally with a DP yesterday?
Anyway, you cannot pwn me based on one at bat when your bet had to do with 2008. I hope that you are right, but I still see him as a middling player. Feel free to save this thread and make me write some humiliating sig or something. :whip:

Nope... first thought that came to my head was... Gee if you would have done that since the beginning we would never have been down 1-3. Am i happy he finally earned a ounce of what he made this year... well yeah. Does it change my opinion of him... absolutely not

I'm with Doxie here. It is nice to see him come through. He has a long way to go to redeem himself for a year's worth of underperforming. It is a start, nothing more.
