Gawd, make it stop :icon_hang
Big deal, 2 arguable calls that went his way. News flash, this happens all the time in home games whether it's in the middle of a streak or not. It's not an exact science.

]I seem to recall that Abner Doubleday got a break one day from the official scorer when Doubleday wanted to call the new game he invented "SackBall" but changed it to "Baseball" when he was awarded an extra sackhit.

he's dead and can't speak for himself. leave the man alone!
The 56 game hitting streak, and Cy Young's 511 wins are two records that, IMO, will never be beaten.
Here's an interesting sidelight. Joe's brother Dom, Red Sox centerfielder, was on his way to breaking the Sox record for the longest hitting streak when his streak was stopped short at 34 games.
And, the ironic part of it was that.....
.......Joe caught the fly ball that Dom hit in his final at-bat on August 9th, 1949, ending the 34-game streak three shy of the Red Sox record.
