I have learned over the years to not settle on championship merchandise until everything is said and done. This first occurred to me with the Patriots's loss to Green Bay in Super Bowl XXXI. So when the Pat's went to Super Bowl XXXVI, I told myself, "I'm not going settle for any of the AFC Champions stuff." No AFC Champs hats, T-shirt, nothing. This is a superstition that lives with me today, and it has done well for me. I cursed my old man, when he bought a 3 times Super Bowl champs banner for his den. I have often said to friends as a joke that when you purchase such things that, "you are telling the sporting gods that is good enough for you."

This brings me to the Red Sox winning the Division after so many years. And dammit, mlb.com had to put some nice "division champs" stuff that I'm so tempted to buy it. I know not to appease the sporting gods though. I'm hoping that the stuff remains after we hopefully win the World Series as well. Who knows when will be the next time we will win the division. I think in all of sports the AL East has been the hardest thing to conquer.

Well, if worst comes to worst, you could just do what the Colts have done - get big banners that say "AL Championship Finalists"
