1-39 is their record when entering the 9th inning behind. The one win being the Mother's Day Miracle against the O's.

According to information supplied by baseball-reference.com, as of Aug. 1 the Red Sox had come back to tie or take the lead 7.6 percent of the time over the seventh, eighth and ninth innings (10 times).
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0><TBODY><TR><TD height=8><SPACER height="8" width="8" type="block"></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> It is the lowest output of the past five years, which includes a 14.1 percent rate in 2003.
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0><TBODY><TR><TD height=8><SPACER height="8" width="8" type="block"></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> Through July, the Red Sox were 20th in the major leagues in batting average when down by one or two runs in the seventh inning or later (.234), averaging a run per every 10.5 at-bats. In the same situation last season, the Sox hit at a .265 clip, scoring a run in every 6.75 at-bats. That rate would be good for second in the majors this season.
<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0><TBODY><TR><TD height=8><SPACER height="8" width="8" type="block"></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE> Perhaps the most telling numbers come with runners on, two outs and the Red Sox trailing by one or two runs from the seventh inning on. In that scenario the Sox have a measly .152 batting average, after finishing ’06 at a .321 clip.
Kind of supports what we've been talking about with the lack of clutch hitting. Sox are still playing great and even the best "clutch" teams have a huge losing record when entering the 9th behind. But it does kind of give you pause.
