I found this Fortune Magazine article very enlightening as I was wondering where the hell George has been this year........

http://money.cnn.com/2007/08/03/news/companies/yankees.fortune/?postversion=2007080313

I was very taken back to learn the YES Network (the prototype for our Sox NESN) may be sold by the end of this summer for as much as $3B (with a B) --- this IS the cash cow of the Yankees brand (although finding out that the current Yankee Stadium luxury-suite revenue soared 202%, from $52 million in 1997 to $157 million in 2005 did boggle the mind)

The Yankees are building a new Ballpark -- Steinbrenner's Right Hand Man is being divorced by his daughter so "who" is running the show is not clear -- George is reported by some to be "very sick" --

could the sale of YES, the new stadium and unclear leadership interest by the remaining family to run the team in the event of George's death all contribute to continued upheaval in player development, FA acquit ions and the overall strength of the franchise as the BoSox appear to be gaining strength?

the article IS VERY LENGTHY but I felt very informative -- hope you may find it the same

Anything that contributes to the screwing (up) of the MFY's is ok in my book!!!!

My understanding of the article is that George isn't selling his share of the network. Everyone else wants out because the franchise is certainly not headed in a very good direction. Sell high - you know.

Once George goes, then we'll see some real screw ups.
