So Tampa Bay's genius front office wouldn't accept Manny Delcarmen from us and demanded Buchholz or Ellsbury.

They wouldn't accept Proctor from New York and asked for Hughes or Chaimberlian

HOWEVER

They then turn around and accept the Astros offer of the equivilent in a used jock strap?!?!

No wonder these clowns are always in last place. What a pathetic franchise.

Wheeler is a decent pitcher and the difference is the Astros don't play in the AL East! Devil Dogs weren't going to give up Wiggington for less. Plus, where exactly was he going to play for us?

Ya exactly...why were we even interested in him? We've already got Cora and Pedroia...

Off the bench. Have you taken a look at our bench?

Cora - hitting a .412 OPS for the month of July
Hinske - Not someone that you can count on to come through in all PH situations
Mirabelli - Statistically, one of the WORST backup catchers in the Majors.
WMP - 0-2, toss him a breaking ball, end of story.

We need someone who is reasonably reliable off the bench.

Excellent point. I, for one, have always said that you don't make trades with teams in your own division. BTW, the Pats have done it a few times, and I just don't think it's a smart idea.

Same in baseball, IMO, never trade with a team that you will face each year umpteen number of times, or for that matter, is in the same league with you...they always, for the most part, come back to haunt you.

The Rays have to at least pretend they're trying to be competitive, which makes the intra-division trade a no-no.
