According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Red Sox had a three-way deal in place for Jermaine Dye that fell through because of an unspecified issue with a player from the third club.
The third club is unknown. Dye apparently was willing to go to the Red Sox, who were promising to play him five times per week. Something still might happen here. We're guessing Wily Mo Pena and more would go to the unspecified third team. Jul. 27 - 10:59 pm et

If what stalled this deal was a 3rd team not cooperating, then I think we still see Dye in a Red Sox uni by 7/31

My thoughts as well. How do you play Jermaine Dye 5 games a week with Drew, Manny and Crisp still on the roster???!! Maybe they are going to Nancy Kerrigan JD Drew and DL him for the rest of the season?

While im not totally against trading for Dye, doesnt he have leg issues of some sort? Is he mobile enough to play RF in Fenway?

I'm figuring when they said he'd play 5 times a week, it probably isn't all at RF. Don't be surprised if they were considering having him DH too.
I'm guessing that they are seriously considering DL'ing Papi

was it true the White sox asked for OKI for Dye once teh minor leaguers were denied - White Sox think a top minor league prospect is needed because teh compensatory pick would yeild that if they let Dye walk
