One of those teams is the Braves, whose answer (according to an official with one of the teams involved, who requested anonymity because he was talking about deals that weren't completed) was that they liked Damon, "but not at that price." Damon is signed through 2009 at $13 million per season, and if the Yankees were to trade him, which they technically could if they believe Jason Giambi is coming back soon from his foot injury, they'd probably have to chip in a good chunk of that salary.

Damon also has a limited no-trade clause.

When I was home, about a week ago, My Dad told me that Damon is really unhappy there. One of his customers sons works for the Yankees. He claims Damon has really been spoating off behind closed doors. I was shocked when he told me this and asked for more dirt. He gave me nothing and told me to mow the lawn.

So this really doesn't surprise me after hearing that...

It would be fitting if he ended up at Tampa Bay....

No it would be fitting if he was trapped right where he is. I hope he continues his downward spiral and the NY media rips him a new one everyday for the rest of his contract, and then he drowns in his money.

It would certainly have to be the looooooooooooooong way back. Like the "Ellis Burks Freeway" route. Because he certain'y ain't going to be calling boston his next stop.

I think I'd rather have Coco. Look at their numbers:

Damon: .245 BA, 5 HR, 36 RBI, .346 OBP
Coco: .281 BA, 5 HR, 38 RBI, .335 OBP

Pretty much the same, except Coco has a higher BA. Also, keep in mind that Damon is getting towards the end of his career, while Coco is getting into his prime.

Too bad Elsbury will be playing CF next year and Coco will be traded in a package to get either another pitcher or 4th outfielder to share time with Jacoby in CF...

I thought Coco would be playing left after we trade Manny.

Coco wasn't even playing CF in Cleveland so it's widely believed he'll be making the move to LF upon Manny's departure. Plus he throws like a giiiiiiiiirl.

he started there but Seizemore was and is a better player - one thing to remember is Elsbury has a weak arm too

Yeah, but Ellsbury is quicker than snot. He can just run it in and have a good a chance on any play as anyone out there.
