Early week quick hits:

* Since 1996, the Patriots have compiled a 7-2 record in the week immediately preceding their bye. New England has won two straight and three of its last four pre-bye contests. This season marks the second time in three years that the Patriots will have a bye week following a trip to Denver.

* The Patriots and Broncos will play for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons and for the 38th time overall. The Broncos lead the series 22-15.

* Patriots tight end Daniel Graham was raised in Denver. His father, Tom, played three seasons for the Broncos. Graham played his high school football at Thomas Jefferson High in Denver and played his college football for the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo.

* Like Graham, it'll be a homecoming for offensive tackle Tom Ashworth, tight end Christian Fauria and linebacker Chad Brown, all of whom played at the University of Colorado.

* This date in history: Oct. 11, 1963 -- The Boston Patriots played their first game in Fenway Park, notching a 20-14 victory over the Raiders.

* Quarterback Tom Brady is ranked first among all AFC quarterbacks in passing yards (1,522), completions (119) and attempts(182).

* Brady also threw five passes of more than 30 yards against the Falcons, a single-game high in his six-year career.

* Corey Dillon's 106-yard effort against the Falcons was his 10th 100-yard rushing game as a Patriot (2004-2005).

* Adam Vinatieri has played in 149 straight games, the third longest streak in team history, behind only Raymond Clayborn (161) and Gino Cappelletti (152). Vinatieri has not missed a game in his 10-year career.

* Receiver Troy Brown needs 3 yards receiving to pass Irving Fryar (5,726 yards) for second place on the Patriots’ all-time receiving yardage list. Brown enters this week’s game with 5,724 career receiving yards.
