That's not good. We need Curt to pitch better. I was a little worried when I heard that Beckett was going to miss two starts because he's been our best pitcher and he could have pitched in this series.
What I don't like it's that the Yankees are getting confidence. The beat the Mets on Sunday and then took 2 out of three form the Sox.
But all the Sox can do is continue to play their games and win.

I'm never really sure what you are talking about. Rubbing it in?!! I'm not rubbing it in. I'm disappointed that the Sox lost two out of three. I was the one rooting for them to win and saying it was important. Other people were saying it ain't no big thing. I am curious to know if it still feels that way after the actual series is over and the Sox dropped it? Because it doesn't feel good to me. I'm worried about Schilling and his 3 straight bad outings. I'm worried about Beckett's injury. I would like to know when Manny is really going to start to hit? Again it is a long season and the Sox are in first and have been playing great. But because it is a long season things can change.
I was hoping the Sox could keep the boot on the Yankee throat. Not allow them any glimmer of hope!!!

You came back at people with an "I told you so" type post. Do you really think people want to read/hear that after dropping two to the Yankees?
You do realize other teams have injuries and performance issues to be concerned about right? We have these issues pop up every year right?
Why go to DefCon 4 about it though?
The Sox are playing "great"? They have the best record in baseball still. You're selling them short.

I think we have some miss understanding going on here
here's my take
SB was making a valid point, one I think was based on talk in a different thread where people were calling the season a lock
In my opinion I hate losing any game and wish we could go 162-0 and sweep every series in the playoffs BUT I know that is not possible

Personally I think this series was a blown statement to the Yankees. Doesnt matter if you bring in the Rocket were still not at the same level as we are. Taking 2 of 3 would have done that especially going against our number 4,5, and 1 pitchers. Instead our number 1 gets a beat down and our bats are cold. Very disappointing. Oh well there are plenty more opportunities.

Yeah, good thing May 23rd isn't September 29th or I would really be panicing. :D
Plenty of baseball left and our 19 games with TB don't start until after the AS Break.

Well don't get me wrong... im not worried about making playoffs. Unless we have some real major injuries and play really poorly, it shouldn't be a problem. What bothers me is not kicking them when they are down. I know its only 2 games and we will not go undefeated the rest of the season and yes i know we will lose to the yankees again im sure but it just would have been nice to send them plummeting again.

Thank you. That's all I'm saying. If people misinterpreted my intent then I apologize. I want the Sox to win. I believe we all do. At the end of the day we are all Sox fans. I think that is all that really matters.

Very concerned. Also concerned about Beckett. will definitely be watching his next start to make sure he still on fire. Schilling seems to have lost it a little bit. Hope he returns to form soon.

I apologize. I didn't see anybody saying that they thought the season was a "lock". That would aggravate me as well. My whole point is, they've played better baseball than any other team. This was the first series they've dropped in awhile (4 or 5 straight I believe). Let's enjoy that.
Despite a fast start, this season will have many bumps in the road. We still have a sizable lead to work on and pound away at the schedule with. I honestly feel like the Yankees needed a sweep of this series. They've now played three more games against us and have taken three games off of the schedule and only gained a game.
For those of you scoring at home, the season series is now at 6-3 in Boston's favor. If we can continue at a 66% win rate against the NYY, I feel good about our chances.
And believe me, I live in enemy territory. There aren't many people on this board that have to hear about the Yankees more than me. I know your pain.

I still would rather have him than say Mussina this year know what I mean?
let's not all go too far south on Curt just yet, the season's just heating up and he's pitching for another 1-2 yr payday with somebody next year, IMO

I am slightly concerned as well. Though, he did throw 118 pitches against one of the best lineups in baseball (Detroit) and managed a win with a decent outing against them.
You also have to give some credit to the NYY. They have a good lineup. They have been slumping for the first month and a half but they will produce runs. They did their jobs last night.
I wonder if there was a carryover effect from Schilling throwing so many pitches against Detroit.
Overall, he's been effective and kept us in just about every game.

I am worried about Curt because he ain't getting any younger. But I think he's just going through a bad stretch and he eventually will start pitching better.

Yeah. It looks like we gotta deal with the same crap. It's been pretty quiet around these parts though up until the last few days. I've enjoyed the tranquility.
Here's hoping that the Sox win and Yankees lose on Thrusday so we can just go right back to talking about a 10 1/2 game lead! :icon_pidu

Yeah but the good thing about Curt is that he's a veteran. He knows his placement is off and i'm sure he's good enough to make the corrections. A line up like the Yanks will make you pay for stuff like that.
