25 minutes to game time, no thread. :shake: Slackers.

Oh, yeah, as for the series... Everyone's thinking the Sox might sweep, or at least take 2 out of 3. I'm not very confident. Wake can throw a stinker, and Tavarez is about as trusty as a paper condom. Even Schilling has degraded to being a 5- or 6-inning 3- or 4-run guy.

The beauty? Even if the Sox get swept... they're STILL seven and a half games in front of the Yankmes! :4321:

Go Sox!!! Beat the Wang.

Ahhh yes. Let the innuendo begin:

"The Yankees' Wang will be hanging its head tonight"
"Look for this Wang to make an early exit."

...and so on.

Apparantly, with the Bombers down by 10.5 games, the has-been celebs can finally afford tix for a Yanks-Sox tilt! :icon_butt

5 LOB.
Only a matter of time.

JD10367
05-22-2007, 12:44 AM
Hmm.... 5 men LOB through 2 innings. That's what you call "not good".

Bases loaded, 3-1 count, and Youk watches a strike and then swings and strikes out. Niiiice.

I've already got a really bad feeling about this... :(

EverettsTheoryOfEvolution
05-22-2007, 12:46 AM
The YES guys are admitting that was a horrible strike call on 3-1 to Yooks

Poor Wally Joyner. STFU. How do we know he wasnt a AAA talent that did steroids and played in the majors for as long as he did. Just because a guy wasnt an all star doent mean he wasnt juicing.

C'mon, JD!!!! Remember the Mother's Day Miracle?!?!?!

Never give up with these guys. Wang won't last the 6th. We'll tag the Yankee bullpen for few and we'll have them right where we want them - bringing in Mo for a dramatic 9th inning rally.

I'm TiVoing 24 on the upstairs TV, Heroes downstairs and the freaking TV in the kids playroom doesn't want to work. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with DirecTV and they've got nothing. They are sending a tech out on Saturday. Whoop de freaking doo.

Not exactly a great way to start the series in New York. Give these mother f'ers life and we'll be staring at '78 all over again. Wake is back to being Wake! Matchups favor the Mother f'ers.Be prepared for the MFY comeback stories!!!

Oh well. Sox fought the good fight tonight. Can't leave 532 men on base and expect to win.

There is no beauty in a Yankee sweep. If the Sox let the MFY back in the AL East race by being swept head to head. Then they deserve to suffer the inevitable collapse and endless comparisons to 1978!!!

*yawn* I turned this game off after the A-Rod HR. That was one of the worst knucklers that Wake has ever thrown (the worst being the '03 Aaron F'ing Boone HR).

Wake didn't have it last night and Wang decided to pull a quality start out of his behind. I say the Yankees take 2 out of 3 games. Their best pitchers are up against out 4-5 and Ace.

And you know what, if they sweep it's not a big deal. We'll still have a 7 game lead if they do.

It IS a big deal. Why should the Sox give the mf Yankees hope? Why shouldn't they go into the Bronx and at least take 2 of 3?? Jesus you act like this didn't happen as soon as last year!!! Every series with the Yankees is a BIG series regardless of when it is played. Everyone is acting like a Yankee sweep is a foregone conclusion and it's ok!!! It's NOT ok. Why is a 7 game lead better than a 12 1/2 game lead??? I would like to see the Sox break the Yankee stranglehold on first place in the AL East THIS YEAR!!!! Not next year or 5 years from now!!! I don't want the Yankees to sweep the Sox. And I especially do not want to have to go to work on Thursday and listen to the pieces of shit Yankee fans crowing that they are back in it!!! Screw those bastards and their fair weather band wagon fandom!!! Come on the Sox need tonights game and tomorrow's. Let's not be so blase!!!

Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...
...........the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!

What the heck happened to the Red Sox Nation I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you SamBam, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Jeter, he's a dead man! A-Rod, dead! Mussina...

fighting doxies..Dead! SamBam's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of dollars. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part....... Enter Julian Tavarez

While I'm not the most objective of Sox fans, I'm not panicing this early in the season. If the Sox take the next two games, GREAT! But if they don't...no biggie. We don't play Tampa Bay until after the All Star Break. And if we roll into Texas with a 7 game lead in the East, what's the big deal? The Yankees have to play the perrenial contender Angels and Toronto and then us after this series...While we have Texas, Indians and the Yanks.

What could be better than letting Yankee fans hope and then crushing their hopes while (hopfully) cruising to a division title?

Have you looked at the Sox schedule in August? Away games against the Angels, White Sox, Yankees. 19 road games and only 9 home games. Let's hope we are still feeling giddy come Labor day weekend.

I didn't think I came across as "giddy". I was going for "quiet confidence". Yeah, August is going to make-or-break the Sox season and I agree with you that they should make hay while the sun is shining.

But, have you looked at the Sox schedule in September? Only two road trips to Tor, Balt, and TB.

I'm of the same mind of David Ortiz. "We don't need to worry about nobody, they need to worry about us."

Amen, brother.

Be happy that as of right now there is barely a question mark to be found on the entire team. We are just about as solid as we can be, and I would assume should anything happen before July 31st, Epstein and co. will take care of it.

Just because we're not jumping off of the Tobin after one game against the Yankees, doesn't mean we're "blase". I don't know if you checked the standings but we're 9 1/2 games up still. It was one game. Nobody has even won this 3 game series yet. If you want to overreact, fine but don't get on other people for not sharing your sentiments.

Have you looked at the Yankees schedule? It's not a cake walk. They have an 8 game home/away with Detroit. They play 3 at LAA, 3 at Cleveland and yes, 3 against US. THE TEAM WITH THE BEST RECORD IN BASEBALL!!!!

It is a long season for a reason. I just think every series with the Yanks is a chance to put them further down with a win. But I guess it is all meaningless. I wish I had your optimism but I've seen far too much in 40 years of following this team. Sorry.

Including the Sox winning in '04 (beating the Yankees)...and almost making it in '03 (Yanks lose the WS). Getting to the postseason in '05 (to be beaten by the World Champion White Sox and the Yanks losing as well).

There has been enough good happening lately to make any Sox fan look on the bright side.

Yeah? How many games were they ahead in May of '06? Who said this season was a "sure thing"? Is the current series over or decided?

What does the last 40 years of this team have anything to do with the present year?

I think this is more along the lines of what SB was trying to say. This is not what we want to see. Would rather the headlines read " Yankee's buried next to Hoffa" One win and the all of a sudden the Yankee's are turning it around... sickening. makes me sick. But thats all the media needs to write things (edited for the pg crowd) like that.

Panicking and expecting the worst is exactly what the Yankees fans expect RedSox fans to do. They want to look in our eyes and see that little flicker of doubt. They want to revel in the fact that we cant be comfortable with the position of frontrunner. They want us to be looking over our shoulders, jumping everytime they say Boo!. They want to believe that because of this, they are somehow better than us. They want us to believe that no matter how far ahead they are, that we still fear them.

I for one wont give them the satisfaction.

I am a reed in the wind. I will bend, but not break. I am serene. There is nothing that can disturb my inner peace. I am at one with the universe. The RedSox are leading the race, and im ok with that. I will not panic. I will not expect the worst. I will not doubt. I will not give the Yankees fans in my life even the briefest redoubt from their own grief. To fear them makes them relevant. If i dont fear them, then they remain irrelevant. If they are going to break me, they are going to have to earn it. They are going to have to earn it with blood and sweat on the field. They are going to have to climb the mountain themselves. I will not give them a hand up. To panic, or to doubt, is to give them hope. Hope that they CAN reach the summit. If i dont dount, there is no hope for them. Only the inevitability that eventually they will take a wrong step and the mountain will shrug them off, like so many other insignificant pebbles during the preceding millenia.

No panic. No doubt. No fear.
