<center>Daisuke Matsusaka

Dice-K baby! So far we have seen the good, the bad, and the pu-pu. It's April and he is going to redeem himself after losing to the team that would probably would have bombed his home country after losing out on the bid ,if Steinbrenner could get his hands on a nuke. Jokes aside, I still can't spell his friggin name cause my web search for images brought up things I would be arrested for looking at in most countries. But Matsuzaka is 2-2 with a 4.00 ERA and 31 K's. We test this guy out in NY where he will be around an insane amount of cameras - all pointed at him, waiting to deliver the good news that he kicked the Yankees asses!</center></td><td width="248"></td><td width="276">
<center>Andy Pettite

Despite the fact that Andy is most likely also Japansese, he is the 40 year old American vet in this game. I couldnt spell his name either (Did you know its spelled "Pettitte?") but managed to find some statistics. He has started 4 games this year, and has also come out of the bullpen twice in-between starts. This means that we are going to tool on him and score a bunch of runs. </center></td></tr></tbody></table>

NEWS & NOTES:

Red Sox are 1st in the AL East - Yankees are Last. Damn does it feel good to say that.
Schilling is offering $1 million to prove that isn't blood on his sock. And this is news?
dhughes is sick, so that's all for today.

LET'S GO RED SOX!

Dice-K's debut at Yankee Stadium. This should be good (or it could be a nightmare) but I'm thinking positive.

Even though we came away with nothing, it's an encouraging first inning. Looks like Andy doesn't have his best control today.

Knowing the whole story that Dice-K threw 17 innings and 200+ pitches, then threw a no-hitter the next day ....... why don't they cut him some slack on the pitch count? He could pitch a CG every game, and obviously he doesn't lose anything the longer he pitches. I would like to see it - its better than seeing Romero, Piniero, or Snyder coming in for the 7th.

Knowing the whole story that Dice-K threw 17 innings and 200+ pitches, then threw a no-hitter the next day ....... why don't they cut him some slack on the pitch count? He could pitch a CG every game, and obviously he doesn't lose anything the longer he pitches. I would like to see it - its better than seeing Romero, Piniero, or Snyder coming in for the 7th.he was in high school/17 y.o.

but yeah let him pitch

*shrugs his shoulders* What are you going to do? Hopefully they can get some more insurance here. Plus, the bullpen really hasn't been tested. Now is a good a time as any.

Happy to see Timlin warming up. Forgot about him. Mabye Okie in the 8th.

I am declaring that the "K" in Dice-K stands for "Kardiac"

Right now I see him as a good #3 starter - if the O scores runs, he puts us in a position to win - but with a potentially very high ceiling

04-28-2007, 02:52 AM
If you're a switch hitter, why don't you switch sides of the plate at random times during the atbat? Wouldn't that mess with the pitcher? I'd like to see somebody like Coco give it a try.

Don't forget, the only team to tag him so far are the yankees (twice), and it is extremely hard from what I understand to adapt to the Majors coming from another country. Beckett struggled just switching leagues. This entire year will be a learning experience for him - then I believe he will be our Ace. Well, him and Beckett.

Yeah he's been ok. Not spectacular. But glimpses of greatness. It seems as if he loses concentration at times during the game and can't locate his pitches. Which usually results in a bad inning. It is a little unsettling. But it is early and he is still learning the league and the hitters so i will cut him a little slack. But IMO for $100m there is little room for error.

Yeah, it's the glimpses of greatness that give me hope. It's not like he is just tooling along average-ly. He is really REALLY bad-ass, then falls apart for an inning or two. Once he gets his head on straight over here, like I said, he has a very high ceiling.

Dice-K has 38 K's through 33 innings pitched. That's pretty good. Growing pains. Wait until he goes up against the D-Rays or Colorado. He'll own bad teams.
