SAN FRANCISCO - Pulitzer Prize-winning author and journalist David Halberstam was killed in a car crash early Monday, a county coroner said. He was 73. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18279135/)
This is a shame. For those who have not yet had the chance, I urge you to read The Teammates (about the friendships between Ted Williams, Bobby Doher, Dom Dimmagio, & Johnny Pesky) as well Education of a Coach (about who else, Bill Belichick)
.

I just wanted to echo this sentiment. Tragic. Just tragic.
Find time to read "Teammates" (I haven't yet read Education of a Coach). Halberstam painted a picture of life-long friendships in this book--baseball was a nice backdrop to the real story about the mortality of life, and what truly makes each individual happy and how some (Williams) may never have really found it.
RIP

Is Summer of '49 too painful to read?
