Well, as of right now, the game is still scheduled to happen Monday morning, well before I am awake, so we'd better make sure to have the thread, just in case. The Angels have faced 2 consecutive days of horror, but the Sox paid the price, when JD Drew's hit streak finally came to an end. However, Big Papi's bat came to life with a HR and 4 total R'sBI. So, we'll switch from the Drew mojo to the Big Papi mojo:

I hope they can get this one in. There was some talk of pushing the start later in the day in order to play. The forecast is the suck right now.

I'd like to know what the Sox front office is smoking. I know they're trying to aviod playing two double headers later on in the season but I don't see a "window" in which to play this game.

Even it the rain stopped you have 60mph wind gusts. I'll go out on a limb and say that this game will not be played today.

The afternoon is supposed to be showers. There's no reason they shouldn't be able to get the game in. It's gonna suck to be a hitter today and a spectator. But the worst is over now.

The odds of them playing today are about as likely as Marco Scutaro touching up Mariano Rivera for another walk-off HR. And considering the Yanks are idle today...

Update from globe:

The Sox have just announced the new start time is 12:15 p.m. The ground crew is dumping excess water off the tarp just beyond the infield which is really soaked with water at the moment.
The rain has lessened but not stopped completely. Some Red Sox players are stretching in right field.
As we watch rain fall, might as well take a look at the Sox farm system from yesterday.
Pawtucket is scheduled to play a double-header (scheduled for 12:05) against the Yankees' Scranton club. Lefty Kason Gabbard and the red-hot Devern Hansack are scheduled to start Games 1 and 2.
Double-A Portland has also run into weather issues. They were rained out Sunday. They'll play tomorrow in Binghampton. The Sea Dogs split a double-header Saturday. Righty knuckleballer Charlie Zink won 5-1 in Game 2 going six innings, allowing one run on five hits and two walks. Third baseman Andrew Pinkney went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

EverettsTheoryOfEvolution

Sweet, the game is on the books! They must've been thinking the same thing, about tanking the inning - 4 pitches to 3 batters - everyone swung at the first pitch, but it took 2 swings for Drew to get it in play. Well done, I say.

Edit: Yeah, I guess you're right, Tilted, especially with the home team ahead and all.

Terrible baserunning by Kendrick, who I guess is having a bad day with a first inning error too. I'll say it once:

Kendrick lined a single to CF, Anderson was rounding 3rd but was held up on a good accurate throw by Wily to the cutoff man. Kendrick, not recognizing the cutoff man having a play took way too big a turn around first and got hung up in a rundown.

How 'bout Okajima? First two batters of his inning went down on 3 pitch stirkeouts! His first outing was a little inauspicious, but he has impressed since then! It looks like we are getting a good bullpen addition with him.

So was there ever any retaliation for the Vlad beaning? I would assume since there were warnings issues that there wasn't. I saw the replay of the pitch and there's no way it was intentional but it doesn't seem like Sciocia not to retaliate late in the game when you take his best player out. He's old school like that.

SamBam39
04-17-2007, 01:41 PM
It was accidental. So they probably weren't looking to retaliate.

oldskool138
04-17-2007, 01:45 PM
It was accidental. So they probably weren't looking to retaliate.

Actually Scocia should have been tossed by arguing a warning. They changed the rules this winter. It should have been an automatic toss. That's why Terry didn't leave the dugout.

It still was a BS warning by the ump. At least let the other pitcher throw the ball before you start being heavy-handed.

EverettsTheoryOfEvolution
04-17-2007, 06:03 PM
Beaning someone on 0-2 is just a stupid idea anyway.
