What do the few of you that watch this show and happen to be here think of the season debut last week? I thought it was excellent. I wonder if them being on the planet will occupy the whole season or if they will get off sooner.

It's definately a change of pace. Annihilus liked it better when they were on the boat, but they'll probably make it back there soon enough. Annihilus's guess is that they'll be on the planet about half the season or so. That being said, the show is still great.
It will be interesting to see what kind of gimmick they use to explain how Rosalyn wasn't killed by that Cylon firing squad at the end of the show (assuming that she wasn't).
Has anyone else heard the status of the proposed TV show spin-off: Caprica?

I didn't know there was such a proposal. Or maybe I did at one time but forgot - that happens a lot.

I hadn't seen BG, but a friend of mine told me it was good so I checked out the little 1-hour "the story so far" summary they were running the week before the season premiere. I was immediately hooked. I thought the season premiere rocked. There was sex, violence, murder, betrayal, suspense, action... and I think that was just the first 10 minutes, LOL.
I'm sure they'll get off the planet soon, because the whole point of the show is the fact that they're going through space looking for Earth. The "cliffhanger" (the sounds of the lasers supposedly firing at the horde of people) was probably a red herring, since I'm sure they're not about to blow away Mrs. Ex-President, Mr. Ex-VP "Don't Call Me Apollo", and the rest. More than likely I bet the Asian chick playing the Cylon Boomer made it back to her ship and took off and strafed the Cylons before they could open fire (and thus the laser blast sounds were coming from her ship).
I'm glad the show's doing well. I've always liked Edward James Olmos, and Mary McDonnell as well (ever since she got me hot and bothered in "Dances With Wolves"). The Asian chick playing Boomer is hot, the chick playing the Cylon is hot, Lucy Lawless is hot, the chick playing Starbuck is sort of strange looking but fairly hot and she grows on you... in other words, there are a lot of hot women, LOL.

I never really could get into the show, because I never got to watch it from the beginning, and it can be really confusing if you miss anything. I think the idea of the show is a good one, but I could do without some of the gay stuff like their made up swear word (frack? How stupid is that?) or the annoying camerawork with the annoying shaking that looks unproffesional, and the random zoom ins.
BTW, speaking of Starbuck, what's up with her being a chick? In the old original BSG, Starbuck was a guy.

I watched the one hour catch up special & the season premiere, both were good with terrific acting (LOVE EJ Olmos & the fella playing Col. Tigh). Mary McDonnell still has great hair, I see (pretty good actress too).
Not sure if I can commit though and try to wade through the unanswered questions, such as "Why is the Cylon psycho freak obsessed with Starbuck?" (Evil me was hoping she would think the kid was a plant and throw her down the stairs, but see I don't know enough about these characters!!), "Why do the Cylons want to live in peace", etc.
Just not sure if I want to make the effort to figure it all out.

If you didn't see them, scifi.com had a series of "webcasts" that filled in part of the story between the end of last season and the start of this one.
If you haven't seen them, some of what happened in the first episode won't make all that much sense.
For example you find out why the red haired guy was willing to be a suicide bomber and what his comment about "see you soon" was all about.
As far as Rosyln is concerned, I'd bet that Richard Hatch's character falls on her protecting her from being shot.

I am boycotting those so-called webisodes. I hate the idea. Maybe if I can download all of them in one file or something.
Yes, DC, it started last Friday.

I dunno, I'd never seen the series aside from the one-hour synopsis, and I didn't have much trouble following the season premiere.

I don't know about downloading all at once, but they can be found here http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/video/index.php?cat=webisodes&vid=30793 and each episode is about 3 minutes.

Set your Tivo, DC....looks like last week's episode will be on tonight/tomorrow morning . . .
I love TiVo, but it's starting to control my life. We'll watch two or three recorded shows at night, but the #*@( box is busy recording four or six shows while we're watching the two or three... and then while we're asleep and at work the next day (and, sometimes, asleep at work the next day) the damn box records another ten things on it's own!
We're gonna need a bigger boat... er, harddrive...
