View Full Version : Schilling vs. Carrasco, Sox vs. Angels, Saturday vs. April 14

The Angels suffered horribly that Friday the 13th, the day belonging only to the devil, and not to Angels of any sort, never mind those of Los Angeles or Anaheim. But, just when they thought the coast was clear, and they had been through the worst of it.......
*ominous music*

They're not out of the woods yet, folks. The horror continues!
(special thanks to 3 Point Stan for providing Saturday the 14th mojo)
Today, the Angels must contend with that most horrible of ghouls:
BLOODY SCHILLING
http://thebormans.net/images/schilling%20sock.jpg
Meanwhile, while Bloody Schilling rests in his dugout sarcophagus between innings, scratching copious notes about the opposing Angels onto the wood of his coffin lid with a rusty nail, the mighty Sox will send to the plate the man with the most mojo, the dazzling JD Drew, riding a 9 GAME HITTING STREAK! GO DREW!
http://gavroche.org/images/drewpose.jpg
Ok, Let's get it on! The streak starts here!

Bases loaded error in the outfield on a Tek line drive. And a passed ball with 'Droia on third. The Sox haven't scored an earned run. :)
It's catch-as-catch-can.

Once the weather warms up, the HR's will come. That was in his wheel-house but his timing is slightly off.
Manny!!! With the RBI single! Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Manny Ortez is ready to break out..

I can't wait for those 2 guys to heat up because the bottom of the lineup ain't doing anything.

'Droia isn't doing too bad. Coco will be replaced by Wily Mo next week. Tek? Well, we need him for defense and pitch-calling. The bottom of the order is weak but it's still early.

I like this Schilling a lot more than the guy who pitched against KC. Looks like he is really working the change up. Hope he can keep it going. Still have to do something with the bottom of the line up. It is death valley.

Jeez, halfway through yesterday's game I was getting ready to rip into the Sox for a lack of hitting, and then they actually scored a few, LOL. (Even though 3 of the runs were gifts).
Aside from Daisuke's loss to the 1-hitter, the Sox have scored a ton of runs in their other three home games. That bodes well... especially since half of the Dynamic Duo has yet to show up and start homering.
Side note: I was in the Fenway area yesterday, because the wife and I took the commuter rail up from Rhode Island and did a whale watch, and then took the T out one stop past Kenmore to Saint Mary's on the "C" line for lunch (at Chef Chang's, the best Chinese food on the planet). Unfortunately for us, the time we were taking the T out past Kenmore happened to be between 2:45pm and 3:15pm--smack in the middle of the big rush. We were squashed onto a train with most of the other passengers wearing Sox paraphernalia. When the train got to Kenmore, it disgorged nearly all of the train's occupants, LOL.

Manny is a hot weather hitter. He will come around. The top looks solid. Francona is going to have to play around with the bottom. If WMP or Hinske can do anything it will help. The bottom 3 are leaving a bunch of guys on base so far.

I just found out that this was the game where Tito took J.D. out and Pinch Hit Wily Mo ... Drew was 0-3 at the time and his hitting streak ended. When it was brought up after the game, Tito said he hadn't even thought about it, but JD didn't seem to mind because he didn't say anything to him.
