View Full Version : Mariners vs RedSox April 10, 2007 - Jeff vs Josh

One in a row. Im undefeated. i forgot today was a day gae, so i had to slap this together real fast before work today. I wont be home until around 4 pm so you guys hold the fort until i get home. When we win, i'll do something a little more original for tomorrows game.
Today we have:
Josh "Blisterman" Beckett vs Jeff "No, I Cant Be More Like My Brother" Weaver.
Key Matchup:
Crash Varitek vs Nuke Weaver: Oh, hey, and another thing, Meat. You don't know shit, all right? If you wanna make it to the bigs, you'll listen to me. Annie only wants you so she can boss you around, got it? So relax! Let's have some fun out here! This game's fun, OK? Fun goddamnit. And don't hold the ball so hard, OK? It's an egg. Hold it like an egg.
Key Stats:
Manny Ramirez's Due Index is almost off the charts at 99.99999238. He crushed 3 balls on Sunday, and got nothing for his troubles.
Julio Lugo is tied for the team lead with with 27 Plate Appearances.
J.C. "BP" Romero still leads the Majors in Suckitude Ratio (116%)
Jonathan Papelbon took over the AL lead in Woodies per Pitch, when he simultaneously gave wood to nearly every guy in the RedSox Nation last evening. Sexy, and economical with the pitches. Just our kind of pitcher. Way to F*cking go, Jonathan!
Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki has more triples that the entire RedSox roster.
Did you hear that DO? Your being out tripled by a guy named Ichiro. Quit laughing Manny, you are too.(i dunno...it worked with the Home Runs last game, so why not?)
Jeff Weaver is currently tied for 13th in career batters hit among active major league pitchers. Lean in guys!
Mojo for tonight:
For Coco:

This is so key for the rest of the series. As is, it appears we will be getting to their bullpen early on and thus using up quality arms sooner. Come the third game, their bullpen very well might not be as rested.

Right, but having a starter enter a game as a reliever is not a good sign. I know they are all rested from their layoff but if we can get to two or three arms today, they might not be as effective tomorrow and so on and so forth.
Particularly, their long relief--If Weaver has to leave this game in the next couple of innings, they're more than likely going to call on someone to eat up the next 2 or 3 at least. That pitcher will be unavailable tomorrow and that could play a small role in any advantage tomorrow.
Let's put it this way, it's always good to wear out opposing pitching. I like when we do it early on in a series. It gives us a possible advantage where one didn't or wouldn't exist if we hadn't worn out their pitching.

Yeah, they've changed the rule from automatic ejection for a hit batsman after a warning to an Umpire's discretion. All hell would have broke loose if he was allowed to pitch. Our guys would have been thrown at immediately and possibly more than once.

according to the radio guys there is something between them
Guillen and Donnely had issues the year after Guillen was suspended by the Angels and was with the Nationals because Guillen had Donnelly's glove checked and he was caught with a substance and suspended

And Guillen dimed him out in the media when the pitchers didn't plunk the other team during a "bean-ball war" game.

Reading between the lines, I'm assuming Donnelly has pulled that trick before and Guillen new and then tattled after being sent away.

If you're gonna have a surf pic, a better one is Bethany Hamilton, the chick who got her arm taken off by a shark when she was 13 in 2003. This now-17-year-old young lady's got some chutzpah.

I watched some snippets of Beckett last nite on RedSox Replay and was happy to see how well his curve was working -- made his heater look way betterer
also was glad to see a better total pitch-to-innings ratio than his 1st start this year (5 innings:94 P)

RG, I think last year he wanted 200 innings to prove durability. during that time an assistant trainer diagosed Josh with Eczema - the reason he got blisters.
I feel this year he is ready to go back to mixing in the pitches he thought caused the blisters and return to the promising pitcher that he should be.

Whoever edited yesterday's Red Sox Replay should be fired.
They cut out Coco's double in the first and Drew's homer in the second. So their replay of the first two innings showed us only 3 of the 7 runs scored.

Yeah, that pissed me off too. Drew's 1st homer at home in a Sox uni, and I've heard for the past 20 hours how "free and easy" his impressive swing was, and I'm watching the highlights from 7-9pm last night and in the middle of a friggin' at-bat there's a commercial and it comes back two innings later.:icon_axe:
