Well, let's get this train back on the winning track. All aboard everyone!!!

Wow! One loss because the offense was uncharacteristicly impatient at the plate and I'm done starting the game thread...

No worries. Then again, it's our #5 pitcher against their ace. It should be fun to watch because Tavarez is nuts. Go Sox!

Sorry. Didn't mean to steal your thunder. Normally where I used to post you change up thread starters after a loss. To change the mojo. If they keep winning the threads are started by the person on the streak. But we can do it differently here if you want.

I'm joking...We can change it up after a loss. (my record 2-1) :)

A-Rod hit a walk-off grand slam...Ugggh!

Gotta love our lead-off man! Lugo isn't exactly a sparkplug up there. No, I don't know who else they can bat lead-off.

Sweet they got a man on third! That's something they didn't do yesterday.

There must be a bunch of Sox fans there. They were chanting while they were at bat and now the "Youk"s after that play. Cool!

Nice clean inning from Tavarez. I love how he was pointing to first for Pedroia. C'mon Jullian! The kids' a rookie not a moron.

I've been trying to find some pics to illustrate my point, but for some reason I can't find any. Has anyone noticed that Varitek doesn't seem to be holding his bat the same way he used to? He always had that trademark stance where he held his bat perfectly vertical with his hands away from his body. He still has his hands high, but his bat is leaning way back now.

Yeah, upon further review, he made a safe play but had it gotten by him it would have only cost them one more run...if he makes the catch on the slide the inning's over with 0 runs scored.

Dirty Harry might be able to play a better LF for Manny. I don't hate him for it though. He's a DH playing a field position. He tries his hardest out there and occasionally (like yesterday) makes a really good play. Unfortunately his range is very limited and it hurts us more often than noticed.

Pick us up on offense Manny!

Well that and not knowing which base to throw to, like back in KC. He tried a long-shot throw to third for a tag play instead of to second to hold the runner on first.

I think Ortiz plays a decent first base, other than his lack of range. The few times ive seen him play there he seemed to have pretty decent hands. But the wear and tear on his body would be far greater than on Manny in LF. So i'll put up with the occasional bad play by Manny if it keeps Ortiz more healthy.

Apples to Elephants...

If Manny let's that ball behind him, one additional run will score. He played it safe but it still yielded the go ahead run and an insurance run. I'm willing to take that risk with two outs early on in a tie game. If I'm up 3 runs or if it's a little later where you have less outs to work with, then yeah, play it safe and stay up by the one run.

Ahh, how soon you forget. Ortiz was very injury prone in Minn. His knees couldn't hold up under the strain of being a full-time firstbaseman. That's why the Twins got rid of him. Ortiz is a DH for life...and that's not a bad thing.

I think you misread my post. I agree with what you just said. I was just saying that for a guy that only plays there in an emergency, he isnt a trainwreck, and for a big guy seems to have pretty decent hands. I will put up with Manny in the OF if it keeps Ortiz DH'ing.

Chipping away, plenty of time left fellas. They still have to go through our 3-4-5 hitters and if two people reach base they'll have to deal with the top of the lineup twice to get their win.

I like our chances.

Yup. It's a very winnable game. The bullpen just needs to put up a few more zeros and I think the Sox offense will wake up a bit.

Oh I still like the move. Tex hits a majority of his HR's from the left side. He's a good hitter in general but he played to not let up the HR to him. Unfortunately Sosa got one the next AB.

Things will change. The offense will come around. The pen will have a good run or two in them. Papelbon will be light's out. The rotation will really win us games--soon.

Basically.....every batter he faced got a hit. He couldn't record an out.

The offense was.......unlucky and incomptent. A lot of hard hit balls right to defenders and I give the Texas infield 5-stars tonight. They made a lot of great plays.

The problem tonight? Pitching. Plain and simple. The offense had chances but couldn't cash in. The pitching never stood a chance.

he's doing ok. Their season is kinda in a slow point right now so he hasnt had a chance to pitch in a game again. But were still working some. And his week is spring break, so hopefully we will be able to work on it alot this week. Its tough because while he is trying to learn to puitch, he is alos having to learn to play first base, whiich has become his primary position, and until this season, he had almost no playing time there.

The only thing I would recommend is to encourage him to pay attention to 1st basemen and pitchers while he watches a ball game. You should record him and throw it on YouTube, post the link here and we'll check out his mechanics? If he's gonna be a pro athlete--it's best he understands exploitation at an early age ;)

I was at the game Saturday night. Horrible is a pretty good description. Cold too. It was the coldest game in the Ameriquest Field / Ballpark in Arlington's history - 38 degrees at game time and it dropped pretty fast (for Texas). We were supposed to get some significant flurries and up to a dusting of snow... that would have been great.

Not to mention that the Ranger fans have this notion that their team is good. We had words, those fans and I.... bunch of pathetic bandwagon fans of the highest magnitude.
